UNION BUDGET

which is a yearly affair, is a comprehensive display of


the Government’s finances. It is the most significant
economic and financial event in India. The Finance
Minister puts down a report that contains Government of
India’s revenue and expenditure for one year. The fiscal
year runs from April 01 to March 31.

Indian Budget Estimates 2009-2010
Total expenditure budgeted for fiscal year 2009-10

 Indian Interim Budget Estimate Rs.9,53,231 cr.

This includes a provisions for:

Plan Budget Estimate of Rs.2,85,149 cr &

 Non Plan Budget Estimate of Rs.6,68,082.


ECONOMIC SURVEY 2009-2010

 India targets return to 9% growth 


 12 million new jobs each year and
 reduce poverty by half by 2014.
 Rs 3900 cr for improvement of urban poor
 Rs.1,000 crore to accelerate irrigation projects

INDIRECT TAXES
Customs duties
Customs duty of 5% to be imposed on Set Top Box for
television broadcasting.
Customs duty on LCD Panels for manufacture of LCD

televisions to be reduced from 10% to 5%.


Full exemption from 4% special CVD on parts for
manufacture of mobile phones & accessories to be
reintroduced for 1 year.
List of specified raw materials/inputs imported by
manufacturer-exporters of sports goods which are exempt
from customs duty.
