Communication is a process by which you convey your
message to someone or a group of people. BENEFITS OF GOOD LISTENING Respect Air Time Information Increased Likability Better Relationships Greater Clarity RESPECT When you listen with full attention, you are communicating respect. AIR TIME If you listen first, others are more likely to return the favor. The great majority of individuals understand there should be give and take in conversation. INFORMATION Attentive listening helps you learn more about other people. Knowing more about people is helpful. You can understand your boss, colleagues, customers, friends and family better. INCREASED LIKABILITY Even people who aren’t shameless crave attention. People like people who listen. You like them more you listen. BETTER RELATIONSHIPS A feeling of goodwill in intimate and professional relationships. Improve your relationships by listening non-judgmentally. The more you listen without judgment, the more freedom speakers have to find their own solutions to problems. GREATER CLARITY Careful listening helps you avoid some of the confusion, misunderstandings and conflicts that are common in conversations. What is a BARRIER? Any difficulty which partly or fully prevent any activity is called a barrier. SOCIO-CULTURAL DIFFERENCES Different cultural backgrounds – personal space, sense of time, etc.
