What is COMMUNICATION?

Communication is a process by which you convey your


message to someone or a group of people.

RESPECT
 When you listen with full attention, you are communicating respect.

 If you listen first, others are more likely to return the favor.

 Knowing more about people is helpful.
 You can understand your boss, colleagues, customers, friends and family better.

Any difficulty which partly or fully prevent any activity is called
a barrier.

ATTITUDINAL BARRIERS
 Personal or work related problems can make it difficult to focus.
 Egocentrism
 The belief that you are more knowledgeable.
FAULTY ASSUMPTIONS
 It is wrong to assume that communication is the sole responsibility of the sender
or the speaker and that listeners have no role to play.
 To think that listening is a passive.
SOCIO-CULTURAL DIFFERENCES
 Different cultural backgrounds – personal space, sense of time, etc.
