CREATION OF “ KHYBER
PAKHTUNKHWA CULTURE &
TOURISM DEVELOPMENT
AUTHORITY ” (CTDA)

 Under 18th Constitutional Amendment during
devolution process, the following attached
formations of Federal Ministry of Tourism stood
devolved to KP-Province in April, 2011:
 Directorate of Tourist Services (DTS).
 Pakistan-Austrian Institute of Tourism & Hotel
Management (PAITHOM) and
 Malam Jabba Resort Ltd (MJRL).

 Whereas, MJRL was outsourced in 2014.

 Presently, the Tourism Corporation Khyber
Pakhtunkhwa (TCKP), DTS & PAITHOM are
working in isolation for the promotion of
Tourism in the Province.

 Whereas, Directorate of Culture (which is an

integral part of Tourism) is also working on
its own for the promotion of Culture in the
Province.

 Provincial Government has kept Tourism on its
priority list and a number of tourism promotional &
development initiatives are undertaken.
 However, need of the hour is to synergize the
working of TCKP, DTS, PAITHOM & Culture under
one umbrella of “Culture & Tourism Development
Authority”.
 This will help avoid duplication, eliminate isolation,
provide one window services to the stakeholders &
speed up the rhythm of sustaining Tourism at the
grass root level, as an income & employment
generating venture.
