MBA Project Guidelines

Introduction
• Osmania University college of Commerce and Business
Management has observed that the MBA Projects
submitted by its students are fabricated and most of the
projects are either bought by freelancers or made – up.
• Unfortunately, this has been happening from a long number
of years. It is high time now, to keep a check on the menace
that happens around the project work phenomena.
• In an endeavour to bring quality and improvement in the
student fraternity, it has been decided to formulate new
guidelines for execution of project work.
• University professors have deliberated with both external
and internal agencies to set up these standards.
• The guidelines provided hereunder are to meet the global,
national and university standards.
MBA Projects
• MBA Projects work carry a full 250 marks for a student in
their entire course of 2 years;
• Project synopsis in the II semester : 25 marks
• Project synopsis in the III semester : 25 marks
• Final Project work in the IV semester : 100 marks
• Viva – voce in the IV semester : 100 marks.
• This makes a total of 250 marks.
• It is advised to students to select those titles that are very
contemporary and market driven, independent of the
faculty ( Finance, Human Resources, Marketing or
Systems).
• The title chosen has to pronounce the social responsibility
an individual has towards the society and community he
lives in.
Project Synopsis Structure
• The Synopsis is a snapshot of the project that is going to
be held by the respective student, Ideally this should
contain the following items;
• Title
• Abstract
• Introduction of the study
• Need of the study
• Objectives of the study
• Scope of the study
• Period of the study
• Research Methodology
• Theoretical Framework
• Limitations of the study
• Chapter Plan
• References.
Project Chapters
• A Project should ideally contain the following chapters;
• Title of the Project
• Abstract
• Chapter I - Introduction
• Chapter II – Review of Literature
• Chapter III – Research Methodology
• Chapter IV – Theoretical Framework
• Chapter V – Company Profile
• Chapter VI – Research Data Analysis and Interpretation
• Chapter VII – Findings and Conclusions
• Chapter VIII - Suggestions and Recommendations
• Bibliography.
Project Chapters - Details
• A legitimate Title for the project has to be framed, which gives
a meaning to the project and make the reader understand on
what topic the project is being made.
• An Abstract should give a comprehensive information about
the whole of the project, it should be a bird’s eye view of the
project. An Abstract has to be presented in Italics only.
• Chapter – I, gives the Introduction to the project and describes
about the problem and cause of the topic selected, it shows
how the problem is identified, hypothised, study can be made
and possible solutions can be arrived at the problem identified.
• Chapter – II, Review of Literature, identifies the existing
literature (from online and offline sources), research
gap(Oxford model, Harvard Model) should be identified. A
minimum of 25 articles that are similar to the title selected
have to be identified and incorporated in the project.
Project Chapters
• Chapter – III, Research Methodology, should explain about
the types of research that are existing and the that has
been selected by the student, it should include objectives,
hypothesis, limitations of the study. It should give the
details of the Primary Data, Secondary Data and Sampling
Plan. Sample size must be 100. The tests that must be
used are chi – Square test, t – test and f – test, not
percentages only.
• Chapter – IV, Theoretical Framework, explains about the
earlier work, present work and the future potential work
that can be conducted on the project work done.
• Chapter – V, Company Profile, should give the details of
the Vision, Mission statements, Targets, Achievements and
Rewards and all the success stories of the organisation
that has been chosen by the student.
Project Chapters
• Chapter – VI, Research Data Analysis and Interpretation,
should have a minimum of 25 questions to be interpreted,
including the Demography ( Name, Age, Gender, Income
etc.) of the respondents. Question, Table Graph, and
Inference have to be presented in one single page for
each question analysed and interpreted.
• Chapter – VII, Findings and Conclusions, must include the
Data related findings that are made by the Inferences
done in the Chapter - VI.
• Chapter – VIII, Suggestions and Recommendations, must
be formulated in such a way that the benefit of
undertaking the project must be emphasized.
• Bibliography, must include atleast 100 titles, that have
been referred for the project.
Project Information
• The pass percentage of Project work is 50%,(earlier it was
40%).
• The company certificate should contain the exact duration
of the project period.
• The college certificate should contain the Name and
Address of the guide and a space for Signature.
• The Declaration by the student must be submitted.
