INTRODUCTION

• First university programme


started just before independence
in 1946 at university of Delhi.and
CMC Vellore.
• In 1949, on recommendation of
university education committee and
education commission(1964-66) and
Conference&workshop held by
TNAI,The WHO and UGC,some
more colleges came up in different
state affiliated to different state
university.
PURPOSES
 The undergraduate degree in
Nursing is to provide an
educational programme through
which the graduates will be
prepared to assume
responsibility in the primary,
secondary and tertiary care of
people as professional nurses.
It is expected that graduates
are capable of teaching and
supervising appropriate nursing
and health care in different
settings and participate in the
administration of nursing service
and education.
PHILOSOPHY
• The INC believes that the basic
course in nursing is a formal
educational preparation, which
should be sound education
principles.
• The INC believes that the basic
course in nursing should prepare
nurses for first level position in
Nursing both in the hospital and the
community.
ELIGIBILITY FOR ADMISSION
The minimum age for admission shall be
17 years.
The minimum educational requirements
shall be the passing of:
Higher Secondary School Certificate
Examination (10 +2) or an equivalent
with 12 years schooling with Biological,
Physical sciences and English.
Obtained at least 45% of total marks in
science subjects
Is medically fit
OBJECTIVES
• 1. Assess health status,
identifying nursing needs, plan,
implement and evaluate nursing
care for patients/clients that
contribute to health of
individuals, families and
communities.
• 2 .Demonstrate competency in the
skills and techniques of nursing based
on concepts and principles from
selected areas of physical, biological
and behavioral sciences.

• 3 .Participate as members of health


team in the promotive, preventive
and restorative health care delivery
system of the country.
• 4 .Demonstrate leadership qualities and
decision making abilities in various
situations.

• 5 .Recognize the need for continued


learning for their personal and
professional development.

• 6 .Demonstrate skills in teaching,


management, interpersonal relations
and communications.

• 7 .Practice ethical values in their


personal and professional life
COURSE OF STUDY
• Duration of the Course shall be four
year
ATTENDANCE,PROGRESS
&CONDUCT
• A minimum of 80% attendance is
required in theory and practical
separately in each subject.

• Attendance of 10% may be condoned


by the vice chancellor on the
recommendation of the Principal
based on genuinity of the case.
INTERNAL ASSESSMENT
• The principles enunciated by
the university in each subject
for which 25% marks
• These will be a minimum of
two assignments and three
periodical tests in every year
DECLARATION OF RESULTS
1. Pass marks: In all main
subjects, both theory and
practical the minimum pass
marks shall be 50% whereas in
subsidiary/ qualifying subjects
minimum pass marks shall be
35%.
• 2. No university examination is
suggested for trends and issues in
Nursing including Nursing
Research, and Elective.

• 3. Course: Outlines for English and


other language courses need to be
worked out as recommended by the
individual University
DECLARATION OF CLASS
 75% OR >75%:- Distinction
 60 to 75%:- First class
 50 to 60%:- Second class
CONCLUSION
 Nursing is a profession, best suited to the
ones who wish to reach greater heights.
So, choosing this right profession today,
will make you feel great tomorrow
