ROLES OF GROUP
MEMBERS
Ritesh Kumar: The major hardware section of the project is
developed by him.

Vivek Sharma: The software part of the project is carried

out by him. All the programming of the micro-controller is
done by him.

Rahul Saini: He worked on the interfacing of the IC’s and

components with the micro-controller.

Rahul Dahiya: He has taken responsibility of the

mechanical part of the project.
DESCRIPTION OF TITLE OF PROJECT

► Anti-Collision robot (ACR) is a self-acting microprocessor-

based device designed and developed to overcome
collision between locomotive.

► The purpose behind this project named as Anti-Collision

Robot is to reduce the number of road accidents.

► As the name suggest this device will prevent the collision

and take further necessary preventive actions to avoid the
collision.
DESCRIPTION OF MAJOR PROGRESS AND
PROBLEM
► The infrared sensor used in the project is of short range of
about 2 cm only. It is a prototype of the original system, so
the efficiency of the sensing of obstacle is not up to the
mark.

► The whole weight of the body of the project is heavy as iron

body is used in the vehicle. So, the speed of the vehicle is
not as fast.

► Only one sensor is used in the project.

JUSTIFICATION OF PROJECT

► The main goal behind this project is to reduce the number

of road accidents. This can be directly use in the
automobile industry. The emphasis is on the avoidance of
the collision of the vehicle with the obstruction.

► ACR give a inexpensive solution to reduce the road

accident.
Circuit Diagram
COMPONENTS
The whole project is divided into 3 parts:

1) Electronics Hardware

2) Software

3) Mechanical
Hardware Section
The hardware of the ACR consists of 2 parts:

1) Sensor part

2) Control Unit
Sensor
 It consists of 2 infrared LED’s and 2 photodiode’s
Sensor
 Infrared led’s are used as the

transmitter of Infrared rays to

the surroundings.

 Photodiode’s are used as the

receiver of the IR rays which
are coming back after gets
reflected from the
obstructions.
Control Unit
IC’s used in control unit:

1) LM324

2) L293D

3) 40106

4) 8051 Micro-controller
IC LM324
 Consists of 4 independent
operational amplifiers.

 Operate from a single

power supply.

 Used to amplify the input

signal.
IC L293D

 It is a quadruple half H
driver IC.

 Used to drive DC motors

and stepper motors.

 2 motors can be connected

at the same time and
operated simultaneously.
IC 40106
8051 Micro-controller

* The program is written in the

program memory of the
8051.

* It takes the input from the sensor

and generate the
proper signal according to the
program.
Software Part
 Software is written in the assembly language.

 It is burned in the micro-controller IC using burner kit.

 The micro-controller takes the input signals and

interprets them according to the software written and
gives instructions to the output ports.
Mechanical Part

 This part consists of vehicle and DC motors.

Vehicle

 This part consists of the body of the ROBOT.

 It consists of a vehicle with two DC motors which will

be used to run the back tyres of the robot.

 The two DC motors are interfaced to the 8051

microcontroller through IC 293D.
Output
Anti Collision Robot works in the following steps:

1)Power is switched on.

2)Robot starts moving in forward direction.
3)Sensor sends infrared rays.
4)If any obstacle comes in its way.
5)Photodiode detects IR rays which will be reflected from the
obstacle.
6)Robot stops immediately.
7)Move a little backwards with a beep sound from the buzzer.
8)Robot stops again.
9)Turns towards its right direction.
10)Then move in forward direction again.
Advantages
 Compact size.

 Low cost.

 Efficient in preventing collision.

 Flexibility

 Efficiency can be improved further.

 Hardware and software can be upgraded easily.

Applications
 Automobile industry for preventing the number of
road accidents.

 Used in a spy robot.

 Used in automatic bomb detection robot.

 Used by as remotely controlled robot for distant

locations such other planets like mars etc.
