Hearing Aid
• Is a battery powered, sound amplifying
device used by persons with hearing
impairments.
• It consists of microphone, amplifier, a
receiver and an earmold.
Types of Hearing Aid
• Behind the ear
• In the ear aid
• In the canal aid
• Eyeglasses aid
• Body hearing aid
Behind the ear
• The most widely used type because it fits
snugly behind the ear.
In the ear aid
• This one piece aid has all its components
housed in the earmold.
In the canal aid
• The most compact and least visible aid,
fitting completely inside the ear canal.
Eyeglasses aid
• Is similar to the behind the ear, but the
components are housed in the temple of
the eyeglasses.
Body hearing aid
• Pocket sized aid
• Used for more severe hearing losses, clips
on to an undergarment, or shirt pocket.
