(+) Numerous cellular phone subscription
services and cellular phones with novel functions have led to fierce
competition among domestic and global manufacturers in the Taiwan
market. Besides sound marketing strategies, efficiently transporting
and effectively managing inventory are essential to enhancing
operational performance. However, manufacturers lack an objective
assessment criterion when selecting the transportation flow of
commodities, with previous research on inventory control strategies for
cellular phones adopting conventional mathematical approaches.
Moreover, cellular phone manufacturers attempting to effectively
respond to fluctuations in demand in the middle and downstream
markets have not considered the delay between transportation and
ordered quantities in available stock, i.e. an important factor in
operational performance. Therefore, this work describes a novel
AHP-based optimal decision making model to strengthen the
transportation of ordered quantities and effectively manage inventory
control by analyzing the transportation of ordered quantities and
inventory control of cellular phone manufacturers in order to enhance
operational performance.

The transportation of ordered quantities and inventory
control is evaluated objectively by AHP. The transportation of
ordered quantities and inventory control is then analyzed using a
dynamic model. Next, a criterion to assess the operational
performance of enterprises is designed based on interviews with
experts in the field. Analysis results indicate
that, in addition to identifying the most economical production
circumstances, transportation procedure and most effective
inventory policy, the proposed AHP-based optimal decision
maki ng model adopts the best cri teri on to assess the
performance of cellular phone manufacturers.
Moreover, the proposed model can be used to establish a set
of objective decision systems not only for cellular phone
manufacturers lacking sufficient time and cost analysis data to
select the most effective means of managing transportation of
ordered quantities and inventory control, but also for researchers
attempting to assess the operational performance of those
manufacturers.

(+) Hospitals highly prioritize
customer satisfaction as an important performance index
that can increase customer loyalty and, ultimately, hospital
revenues. However, Taiwanese hospitals lack a uniform
questi onnai re on customer sati sfacti on, maki ng i t
impossible not only to compare satisfaction levels as the
questionnaire contents vary among each hospital, but also
for academic researchers to fully understand the overall
level of customer satisfaction in Taiwan ultimately leading
to faulty hospital policy decisions. Therefore, this
work designs a questionnaire on customer satisfaction that
can objectively survey the market demand and consumer
preferences in hospitals island wide.

A questionnaire on customer satisfaction is designed
based on interviews with hospital administrators and relevant
documentation. Questions deemed inappropriate are then
deleted following item analysis and factor analysis. Next, the
questionnaire is submitted to patients at Hsinchu General
Hospital, with those results subsequently analyzed.
Analysis results indicate that the proposed questionnaire
on customer satisfaction provides a uniform standard for
hospitals island wide to assess the current market demand and
customer satisfaction. In addition to
providing an objective means of determining the current market
demand and level of customer satisfaction, the proposed
questionnaire provides a valuable reference for administrators
when devising hospital policies.
