Abstract
 Boost converter generates switching losses at turn ON and
OFF, results in reduction in the system efficiency.
 Active-Clamped Full-Wave ZCS of Quasi-Resonant Boost
Converter utilizes a soft switching method using an Active-
Clamped circuit with a resonant inductor, capacitor, auxiliary
switch and clamping diode.
 Advantage of Active-Clamped Full-Wave ZCS of Quasi-
Resonant Boost Converter is reduced switching losses and
achieve high efficiency.
 Soft switching boost converter is suitable for photovoltaic
dc/dc converters, power factor correction circuit and battery
chargers.

Conventional Circuit Drawbacks
• More EMI
• Ringing problem
• More switching losses

Modes of Operation

Assumptions:-

 All the switching devices and passive elements

are ideal
 Input voltage (Vin) is constant
Mode1
• I/P Voltage Vi is given
• Main switch S 1 is
closed and Auxiliary
switch S2 is open
• Current starts flowing
in the circuit
• L 1 & L r Starts charging
because of i1 & iLr resp.
• Diode Db is forward
biased and current
flowing through it.
• c0 is charging.
Mode2
• In this mode resonant condition
takes place because L r andc r
comes into picture.
• Charge in c0 reverse biases the
Db
• Now current starts flowing
through c r
• Current through L r increases.
• At the end of this mode pulse
to S 1 is removed.
Mode3

• s 1 is turned off
• Its voltage is reached to VS1
During this mode
energy stored
Lr on is Cc
cdumped
o
to Ro
• discharges through
Mode4
• Here stored energy in Lr
is completely dumped
1L i 0
in Cc . 2 r Lr ,therefore Ds1
is turned off.
• Both s1 and s2 is off.
• Again L 1 and L r are
starts storing energy
(closed path is
maintained by c )
s1
Mode5
• Discharging of c 0
makes the Db forward
biased.
• Now current flows
through Db and charges
the c 0
Mode6
• Auxiliary switch s 2 is
turned on.
• Then VS 2  0
• Charge on Lr discharges Cs1
and chargesCs 2
• At the end of this mode,
pulse to s 2 is removed.
• Due to the discharging
of Cs1 ,During next cycle
the switch s1 can be
turned on at zero
voltage condition.

CONCULSION

• In this Paper, A topology called active-clamped full-wave zero-current
switched quasi-resonant boost converters has been demonstrated.
• Its basic operation principles and experimental results have been
presented.
• This new topology has proven to be able to alleviate the voltage
ringing phenomena during switch turn-off period on a full-wave ZCS-
QR boost converter. Beside that, active clamp circuit also gives
additional benefit by adding ZVS characteristic to current converter.
• It has been shown that this technique performance is better if compared
to former simple diode clamp topology in terms of efficiency, voltage
regulation, and conducted EMI characteristics.
