The purpose of this project is to plan and design an optimum internet
network based on WiFi technology for Engineering College of An-
Najah.

This network should be able to offer high speed internet access that
keep the subscriber connected everywhere.

In this project we designed a WiFi network that will cover the first floor
of Engineering Faculty as a case study, the results then can be then
revised and the study is expanded to cover much more area of the new
campus.

¬
WiFi (Wireless Fieldity) technology was first introduced in
1997, and since then became an important part of
technology advancment.

WiFi is the scientific name foe IEEE 802.11, and has several
branch standards.

The most common standard used is 802.11b/g

Further information about WiFi and antenna were discussed
earlier by our colleagues.
¬

In this part of the project we searched for the locations
of the access points in the first floor of the engineering
college.

In order to measure the signal strength transmitted

from access points across the floor we used a program
called WirelessMon .

it is found that there is only two access points located to
the east of the building.

One at Dr.Abusafa office and found to be working, and

the other at Dr.Malhis and found to be down.
The next figure shows the location of surveying

As mentioned earlier, there has been a major problem
with the network for the covering issues.

In this part a number of solutions will be suggested,

using scientific approach and computerized methods.

equipments used wereÚ

1- Cisco Aironet 4-dBi Omnidirectional Antenna (AIR-ANT5140V-

R)

2- Cisco Aironet 1200 AP with minimum power of 32 mW.

3-minimum acceptable signal is -80 dB.

4- the equipments used by the university is D-Link equips
