The simple present tense is used for :
1. A habitual or repeated actions
e.g. :
I cook for my children every weekend
he plays tennis every night
they go to the market every Monday
she goes swimming every Friday
2. It also expresses general statements of facts
e.g. :
the sun rises in the east
dogs bark
babies cry
we eat to live
action speaks louder than words
3. Used for something or an action happening
now
e.g. :
she cooks assam laksa
she smiles to me…
