y The iPad is a tablet computer developed by Apple in April 2010 y A tablet computer, or simply tablet, is a complete mobile computer, larger than a mobile phone or personal digital assistant, integrated into a flat touch screen and primarily operated by touching the screen. It often uses an onscreen virtual keyboard or a digital pen rather than a physical keyboard. y It introduced a class of devices between smartphones, and laptops. Uses fingertips for input . y The iPad was selected by Time Magazine as one of the 50 Best Inventions of the Year 2010.

y Apple s development of a tablet computer bagan with

the Newton MessagePad 100, first introduced in 1993.

y Apple released the first iPad in April 2010. y Apple sold 3 million of the devices in 80 days. During

2010, Apple sold 14.8 million iPads worldwide, representing 75 % of tablet PC sales at the end of 2010.

The A4 processor  The Apple A4 is a 64 bit ARM and is package on package (PoP) system-on-a-chip (SoC) designed by Apple and built on Samsung's 45-nanometer (nm) silicon chip .  The A4 processor package does not contain RAM.  It runs at 1Ghz and contains a Cortex-A8 CPU core with a powerVR SGX graphics processor  The A4 chip is so power efficient that it helps iPad get up to 10 hours of battery life on a single charge

2.iPhone OS(OS X)  It is a mobile OS developed and marketed by Apple Inc  It is a default OS of the iPhone, iPod touch, and the iPad  It was introduced at the Macworld conference on jan 9,2007 as the primary os of the iPhone  It is derived from Mac OS x and Is a Unix like operating system by nature.  It uses less than 500MB of the device memory  It has four layers:core OS layer,core services layer,the media layer and the cocoa touch layer.  IOS 4.3 is the latest updates of ios.

Battery:
y The iPad uses an internal rechargeable lithium-ion

polymer(LiPo) battery. y The batteries are made in Taiwan by Simplo Technology and Dynapack International Technology. y The iPad is designed to be charged with a high current of 2 amperes using the included 10 Watt USB power adapter. y While it can be charged by a standard USB port from a computer, these are limited to 500 milliamperes (half an amp).
