INTRODUCTION
WE ALL ARE SMOKERS ARE WE? Daily activities=cigarette We are=smokers

CURRENT SCENARIO
Post industrial revolution era % of CO2 emissions is on a steady rise The CO2 levels are reaching alarming levels

AIM
Lay man awareness how does he contribute to Carbon emission The hazards of the same on personal level as well as to the whole world and Suggest small and simple steps that we can take to prevent carbon emissions .

CARBON FOOTPRINT
A carbon footprint is "the total set of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions caused directly and indirectly by an individual, organization, event or product". A Carbon Footprint is made up of two parts: The primary footprint is a measure of our direct emissions of CO2 . The secondary footprint is a measure of the indirect CO2 emissions

The pie chart above shows the main elements which make up the total of a typical person's carbon footprint in the developed world.

GREENHOUSE GASES ARE INDISPENSIBLE

One-third of the solar energy is reflected directly back to space Remaining two-thirds is absorbed by the surface and, to a lesser extent, by the atmosphere To balance Earth radiates the same amount of energy back to space But the Earth is much colder than the Sun, it radiates at much longer wavelengths Atmosphere acts as a one way valve.

The two most abundant gases in the atmosphere, nitrogen and oxygen exert almost no greenhouse effect But gases such as CH4 & CO2 are green house gases.

GREENHOUSE EFFECT IS NOT A BAD

The temperature of the surface of the Earth would be -18C, instead of the actual value of about 15C

MAIN WORRY
The amount of radiation which escapes depends on the concentration of greenhouses gases in the atmosphere. Earth s Temperature has increased by 0.6C 0.2C over the last century

PROBLEM

unchecked emission of Greenhouse gases (mainly CO2) in atmosphere.
