PASSION The Key Element To Powerful Cell Group Leadership

Acts 4:13-24 (NKJ)

13 Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were uneducated and untrained men, they marveled. And they realized that they had been with Jesus. 14 And seeing the man who had been healed standing with them, they could say nothing against it.
3

15 But when they had commanded them to go aside out of the council, they conferred among themselves
16 saying, "What shall we do to these men? For, indeed, that a notable miracle has been done through them is evident to all who dwell in Jerusalem, and we cannot deny it. 17 "But so that it spreads no further among the people, let us severely threaten them, that from now on they speak to no man in this name."
4

18 And they called them and commanded them not to speak at all nor teach in the name of Jesus. 19 But Peter and John answered and said to them, "Whether it is right in the sight of God to listen to you more than to God, you judge.
20 "For we cannot but speak the things which we have seen and heard."
5

21 So when they had further threatened them, they let them go, finding no way of punishing them, because of the people, since they all glorified God for what had been done.
22 For the man was over forty years old on whom this miracle of healing had been performed. 23 And being let go, they went to their own companions and reported all that the chief priests and elders had said to them.

24 So when they heard that, they raised their voice to God with one accord and said: "Lord, You are God, who made heaven and earth and the sea, and all that is in them.

Vs. 13 contains two words that are not very impressive when considering the credentials of two of the greatest leaders in the early church.
UNEDUCATED

UNTRAINED
8

Uneducated simply means men uninstructed or unlettered in the learning of the Jewish schools.

Untrained means men of the common sort.

What produced such boldness?

Our answer is found in Vs. 24 upon releasing the men, after threatening them, the Apostles went to their companions and reported all. Notice what it says in this passage: they raised their voice to God with one accord.
10

The phrase with (in) one accord means with one mind, with one passion.
It was the passion they possessed that produced such boldness displayed!

PASSION

The Key Element To Powerful Cell Group Leadership

12

Cell churches that are encountering an explosion, across the world, have a number of things in common.
At the very top of the list . . .

PRAYER

13

Other key factors that can be found globally . . . equipping and empowering
spiritual warfare (mapping, prayer walking, Prayer of Three, etc.) cell based evangelism strategies

cell planting
14

Passion: an intense, driving or overmastering conviction that demands action.

The key to powerful cell group ministry is a leader who passionately pursues the vision of cells as being the life of the local church to which the cell belongs.
15

A cell that is full of life is lead by a leader driven with the convict-ion that the life of the church takes place in cells!
The degree of that conviction determines the degree of passion the leader possesses and displays. Leaders reproduce their own kind.
16

You can have two cell groups side by side, both built on the same foundation, both carefully following the guidelines of the cell structure and system to which it is attached. Yet one excels in impacting the community and attracting others into it far greater than the other.
17

Why does this scenario exist practically in every cell church? Because somewhere along the way, in the midst of all the equipping, strategies and structure, one leader caught passion while the other leader caught a plan!

Passion at the leadership level is what keeps cells from becoming another program.

TRUTHS NECESSARY TO RAISE UP AND SUSTAIN PASSIONATE CELL GROUP LEADERSHIP

1. Leaders Leading As Unto the Lord Acts 20:24, Col. 4:17 A leader who leads the cell in order to please and impress man will event-ually atrophy, both he and his group.
19

First, he has been given this revelation by the leadership over him and secondly, he has received the revelation in his spirit man. A passionate leader has clear understanding of the process coupled with the revelation that cell group ministry is one being offered unto the Lord.
20

TRUTHS cont.
2. Focus on Prayer Rather Than Production Col. 1:9-12 Passionate leadership takes off the limits where prayer is concerned. Strategies not founded and implemented by continual prayer often produce routine, fatigue and eventual burnout at the leadership or membership level.
