Teachers Day In India

Since times immemorial, we the Indians have respected and idolized our teachers. Earlier, we used to call our teachers 'Guru' and now it's the contemporary 'Sir' or 'Madam'. Nevertheless, the role of teachers has remained the same. They were, are and will continue to be our guiding light, creating conditions conducive to our overall development. We will always be thankful to them for their constructive support. It is as an expression of this gratitude only that we celebrate Teacher's Day in India. Teacher's Day is a tribute to the hard work and devotion of the teachers all year long, to educate a child. In our nation, India, teachers day is celebrated on 5th of September every year. Indian Teachers Day is dedicated to Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, who was a zealous advocate of education and one of the greatest scholars and teachers of all times, apart from being the first Vice President and the second President of India. As a mark of respect to this phenomenal teacher, his birthday came to be observed as Teachers Day in the country.

Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan was one of the most distinguished diplomats, scholars and teachers of India, apart from being the first Vice President and the second President of the country. As a tribute to this great teacher, his birthday is observed as Teacher's Day across India. As a matter of fact, when his students and friends asked him for the permission to celebrate his birthday, it was he who asked them to celebrate the day as Teacher's Day, honouring the efforts of teachers across the country.

Teachers have an influencing role in the life of a student. They are like beacons of light guiding us in the formative years of our life. A teacher moulds us and in the process shapes our future. What we learn from our teachers remains with us throughout our life giving us direction. But very often, we fail to show our appreciation and gratitude for their devotion. Teachers do need encouragement and support from the community to feel that their efforts are being recognized. Towards this end only, Teacher's Day is celebrated throughout the world. By celebrating National Teacher's Day we thank our teachers for providing us their invaluable guidance. Teachers day is a complete tribute to our teachers who put in their hard effort in give us knowledge.

When we are young, our teachers play the role of 'second parent', taking care of us and showing us the right path to success. Some teachers have also become well known in the world, for their unmatched achievements and dedication to the sacred profession of teaching. Ayn Rand died on March 6, 1982, leaving behind the legacy of her brilliant work. She shot to fame with her best-selling novels and by developing a philosophical system called 'Objectivism'.

Confucius

Famous throughout the world as a Chinese thinker and social philosopher, Confucius laid great emphasis on personal and governmental morality. He believed in the rightness of social relationships, fairness and honesty. With time, his way of thought came to be developed into a system of philosophy, known as Confucianism, which had a deep influence on Chinese, Korean, Japanese, Taiwanese and Vietnamese thought and life.

Galileo Galilei
An Italian physicist, mathematician,
astronomer, and philosopher, Galileo Galilei is best known for his major role in the Scientific Revolution. An ardent supporter of Copernicanism, he brought about great improvements in the telescope as well as the consequent astronomical observations.
