that students can identify the meaning and use. There has to be constant relevant input. Students need to be exposed to the words and need to be asked to retrieve them repeatedly. (Recycling & spacing) Vocabulary needs to be personalized. Students need explicit tasks and strategies to help them organize and memorize vocabulary. Learning vocabulary involves directed attention to pronunciation features. Learning a new word involves a long process, so teachers should provide opportunities to help students complete it. Students need to be helped to become less dependant on direct translation from Spanish.
