Economic Reasons: At the time USSR economy was struggling and Ukraine was known as bread basket of Europe. Stalin saw a huge potential in improving the economy at the expense of Ukrainian nation. In 1932 harvest Soviet authorities were able to procure only 4.3 million tons and 7.2 million tons obtained from 1931 harvest.

Power hungry Stalin, his militant class, and his Russian citizens deprived the whole country of food, mainly the Ukrainian SSR due to its rich crops. They selfishly stole food from the Ukraine SSR to feed their own people, causing the death of anywhere between 2.6-10 million people. These ultranationalist policies went against his communist supra-nationalist beliefs.

invokes ultranationalist policy of food control over USSR controlled territories, mainly Ukraine SSR. began to make all crops and harvest go directly to USSR and none to the Ukrainians who grew and farmed the food.

The
USSR slowly killed many of the Ukrainians through starvation and deprivation of food and basic human resources. Ukrainians were starving while the USSR citizens were full on unjustly stolen food supplies.

Denial
During
the holomodor and after Stalin denied and covered up the holomodor. He did this by only showing the positive or what ever was left of it in media and to his few tourists. This gave Stalin a nice image but he was really a killer of many innocent peasants.
