To understand the working and the organization


structure of Adobe Sytems. To find the functions and operations of the different

departments of Adobe Sytems.

To know the hierarchical levels that exists in Adobe Sytems.

To study a specific management problem that exists in


Adobe Sytems and suggest suitable recommendations for the same.

The Software industry encompasses all the activities and businesses involved with development, maintenance and distribution of computer software. It started its operation during mid-70's.

Also covers the activities like software servicing,


training and consultancy. It is the largest and most booming industry in the

world.

Primarily concerned with the development of two types of software > Proprietary software > Open source software

The software industry is continuously expanding in


India one of the leading destination for the IT and IT-enabled services worldwide. Software giants are Infosys, Wipro, and TCS.

ADOBE SYSTEMS is one of the major software giant


carrying on business on a global perspective. Focused upon the creation of multimedia and creativity software products. Company name Adobe comes from Adobe Creek in Los Altos, California. Adobe acquired its former competitor, MACROMEDIA, in December 2005.

Its functions are: > Acquisition and maintenance of the employees. > Acquiring of finance and ensuring the effective utilization. > Providing customer support post sales. Contains facilities and operations, finance, HR & IT support as its functions.

IT SUPPORT

Comes into picture once a product is delivered to the customer. Attempt to help the user solve specific problems with a product. Support may be provided to customers over the telephone or online.

Problem statement Employee retention is one of the major problems faced by Adobe particularly amongst the employees in the Engineering Department. Reasons Better opportunities available for skilled and talented employees in other organizations. Dissatisfaction with the current salary. Dissatisfaction with the current position. Negative Impact Continuous process of hiring new employees because the current employees are retiring. Continuous expenditure on the training and development of its new employees.

Employee retention being one of the major problems faced by Adobe it is recommended that Adobe ensures the following practices that can be categorized in 3 levels: Low, medium and high level:

Hire the right people in the first place. Empower the employees: Give the employees the authority to get things done. Make employees realize that they are the most valuable asset of the organization. Have faith in them, trust them and respect them. Provide them information and knowledge. Keep providing them feedback on their performance. Recognize and appreciate their achievements.
