INTRODUCTION
A pilotless aircraft capable of performing a nondestructive mission; when used destructively it is properly termed a missile.

There are three basic types of drones: A preprogrammed drone A smart drone The remotely piloted vehicle (RPV) We are working on the third and the most commonly used type of drone technology. The remotely piloted vehicle (RPV), is under the constant control of an operator or pilot through radio links. The pilot can be located on the ground, in other aircraft, or on ships. Typical missions for remotely piloted vehicles include reconnaissance or surveillance of enemy activities, target acquisition, relay of friendly communications, and jamming of enemy communications.

Overview of Project
Our Nation is at war today, in what is described by many as the long war. Proactive security is far more cost-effective than armed conflict. To develop cost-effective RPVs to enhance Naval ,Army and Joint capability Vehicles can be equipped with a variety of cameras, sensors, or special equipment to accomplish objectives

GUI Display

At present, we are using the Hyper Terminal session of standard Windows package to display the parameters coming from the serial port.
Alternately, a Graphical User Interface (GUI) can be designed in VISUAL BASIC for monitoring and controlling of the machine.

GPS

15

GPS
GPS receivers receive almanac data from the satellite and also calculate their position by calculating its distance from then visible satellites and then by using triangulation method to calculate its position. After the data has been received and position has been calculated, the data is configured according to standards set up by NMEA (National Marine Electronics Association) and is serially transmitted at a baud rate of 4800 bps. GPS receivers also work on these NMEA Standards. Most of the computer programs and devices which provide position and other The data given by the GPS receiver includes many information like position (latitude and longitude), altitude, speed, time etc. In its standards, NMEA has specified to send a series of data in a sentence. Related information expect the data to be in NMEA format.

A particular sentence is totally self-reliant and is independent from other sentences. There are standard sentences for particular type of data and for various categories of devices. NMEA has also provided the functionality for individual companies to write their own sentences.

Wireless Device

XBee Pro 60mW Wire Antenna - Series 1

These modules take the 802.15.4 stack (the basis for Zigbee) and wrap it into a simple to use serial command set. These modules allow a very reliable and simple communication between microcontrollers, computers, systems, really anything with a serial port. Point to point and multi-point networks are supported. 19

RS-232
This standard is used for the compatibility of TTL logic in which the RS232 represent 1 for -3 to -25 while 0 for +3 to +25, making -3 to +3 undefined. To connect any RS232 to controller we must use the voltage converter. As the RS232 standard is not TTL compatible so therefore it requires a line deriver such as MAX232 IC chips to convert RS232 voltage level to TTL levels.

We use RS232 for the serial data received and transmitted between PC and the microcontroller.
