This project is related to information about “The Noun & the Verb”
that is the main part of the English grammer.The main moto of this
project is to teach English grammer through the Computer.The
audio & video effects that are assigned to different slides makes the
text more attractive.The students can learn English more easily as
compare to the learning through books.

THE NOUN
A noun is a word used as the name of
person,place or things.
Note:- The word thing is used to mean
anything that we can think of.
Example:- (i)Ashoka was a great
king.
In the above sentence Ashoka is a noun.
(ii)Rohtang is a hill station.
In the above sentence Rohtang is a noun.

Proper Noun
A proper noun is the name of some
particular person or place.
Example: (i)Maharaja Ranjit Singh was a
wise king.
In the above example Maharaja Ranjit SIngh
is a proper noun & belongs to a person.
(ii) Mumbai is a big city.
In the above example is Mumbai a proper
noun & belongs to a place.

Common Noun
A common noun is a name given in common to
every person or thing of the same class or
kind.Common noun include what are called
collective nouns & absract nouns.
Example:- (i) Rawan was a cruel King.
In the above example king is common noun &
denotes to class.
(ii) Shiva ji was a brave soldier.
In the above example soldier is common noun &
denotes to class.

Abstract Noun
An abstract noun usually the name of a
quality,action,or state considered from the
object to which it belongs;as
Quality:- Whiteness,darkness,hardness etc.
Action:- Laughter,movement,hatred etc.
State:- Childhood,thickness,youth etc.

Collective Noun
A collective noun is the name of a number
of a persons or things taken together &
spoken of as one whole;as
Example:- (i) Mob,Flock,Nation etc.
A fleet = a collection of ships.
An army= a collection of soldiers.
A herd of cattle is passing.

Material Noun
A material noun refers to things that are
countable or uncountable.
Countable noun:- A countable noun are the
name of objects,people etc.that we can
count. eg. pen,trees,apples etc.
Uncountable noun:- Uncountable noun are
the names of things which we cannot
count.eg. Milk,water,air etc.

THE VERB
A Verb is a word used to tell or assert
something about some person or things.

Example:- (i) The girls were singing.


In the above sentence singing is a verb.
(ii) The boys play football.
In the above sentence play is a verb.
(iii) He runs very fast.
In the above sentence runs is a verb.

Transitive Verb
A transitive verb is a verb that denotes an
action which passes over from the doer
or subject to an object.
Example:- (i) The boy hits the ball.
In the above sentence,the action denoted by
the verb hits passes over from the doer
or subject boy to some object ball.The
verb hits is therefore called a transitive
verb.

Intransitive Verb
An intransitive verb is a verb that denotes
an action which doesn’t pass over to an
object,or which expresses a state or
being;as
Example:-
He walked a long distance.(action)
The baby laughs.(state)
There is a flaw in this diamond.(being)

Identification of Noun & Verb
Example:- (1) Let us have to play the cards.(Noun)
They played a match.(Verb)
(2) Your answer is correct.(Noun)
He answered all the
questions.(Verb)
(3) He knows no fear.(Noun)
All fear death.(Verb)
(4) She put on a new dress. (Noun)
She dressed for the party.(Verb)
(5) The court has decided the
case.(Noun)
