CONTEXT
The Robert Village Hindu School has produced outstanding members of our community. Achieving this high level of performance arose through the hard and sustained devotion and dedication to duty, by the many hard-working parents, teachers and administrators of the institution. The school is situated in the community of Tableland, south Trinidad. Income varies among the households as members of the community are exposed to a variety of opportunity. The predominant impact is created by the lush pineapple plantations surrounded by thriving agriculture.

The school has a mixed population of 520 students of varying ethnicity, staffed by a principal, vice-principal, 23 teachers - who are committed on developing the children to their fullest potential, 3 ancillary staff and 1 security officer. There are profound expectations of both the teachers as well as the students in achieving high level of performances both in the academics and aesthetics.

DESCRIPTION OF PROBLEM
Daily around ten children are brought in to the principals office from different classes for not completing their Home Work and they are told by the principal that they will be required to stay in the office during the lunchtime period and finish their Home Work. During the third school week of this term a Standard Five parent told me that he was contemplating about getting his son transferred out from our school since the Home Work was ridiculous -his son had reached the middle of his Home Work copy book

Research Questions
What are the factors responsible for the children not completing their Home Work? What strategies can be employed to foster these children completing their Home Work? What is the nature of the childrens Home Work?: Drill and Practice, Activity Type, Other. Is Home Work effective? How much Home Work is appropriate?

,According to Baumgartener (1993). Some parents complain that teachers give too little homework, while others complain that teachers give too much. Teachers in different classrooms in the same grade at the same school often treat homework differently. Parents have suggested that teachers "should talk to each other so kids don't get 'homework shock' from one grade to another" When I just received my class parents questioned me about the amount of Home Work that I will give the children. They informed me that in Second year the children got a lot of Home Work. Some parents wanted a lot of HomeWork for their children while others expressed that if the children did their work in school, why the need for so much Home Work.

PERSONAL PHILOSOPHY
The shift in our education system has been one of out of memorization into developing students with pragmatic skills needed for this technological age, then Home Work must also change and be more activity based.

Reflective teaching has enveloped my practice as an educator. I believe that children should not be given laborious Home Work. I strongly believe that parents involvement are critical to the successful completion of Home Work at the Standard One level. I believe that activity based Home Work can be effective but must be done with parents supervision and guidance.

Analyzing the H.W. given for this term to present:

In my class I mostly give children drill and practice type questions in Mathematics to reinforce what was done in school. However, each week there are an average of five students who didnt completed their Home Work. Also the majority of Home Work that is given to the students in my class is Mathematics.
