Advantages Mimics normal conversation Discussion takes place efficiently real time Can involve professional guests
Disadvantages All learners must be available at the same time Discussion progresses quickly and depth of ideas may suffer Slow typist may not participate as much
Advantages Learners and teacher may log on at any time There is adequate time to think through responses
Disadvantages Procrastinations may not get involved in some of the discussion Postings may become very lengthy and time consuming to read
