Using that premise, director Wes Craven and screenwriter Kevin Williamson came up with Scream, whose cleverness derives from the fact that it knows every single stereotype of the genre and satirizes them.

To begin with, the budget was low for the scream films, possibly due to casting and no previous funds. After the success of scream 1, to make a sequel, the budget heightened to a medium budget. With the success of the second film, an ever higher budget was introduced for the third and fourth films. Ironically, the best rated film is scream 1 with the lowest budget, and the lowest rated film is Scream 3 with the joint highest budget, audiences may feel that the makers of the film tried too hard to maintain the standard of originality in the film.

What Did Scream Add To The Slasher Genre?

Scream 1 brought a new type of slasher into the horror genre, it was made up of comedic deaths with an unfamiliar boogeyman a killer who cannot be killed, this fascinated audiences and allowed other film makers to add this boogey man into their films. Scream brought the plot throughout the franchise of films, for the final girl (character name Cindy Prescott) to be murdered by ghostface. Scream has brought into the slasher genre, a modern twist to slasher films, in the sequence, Cindy never dies, allowing space for another film to be added to the sequel, foreshadowing that the next film will be about ghostface trying to catch his final girl.

GHOSTFACES WEAPON
Throughout the many years of ghostfaces signature mask and his dark, threatening robe outfit, and his husky voice, he has also kept his weapon, a knife. This could be interpreted in many different ways, the most striking of all could be the phallic way, ghostface may see himself as metaphorically raping these girls with his knife, the knife symbolises a penis, which could lead to the intention of ghostface possibly have sexual feelings for the final girl, Cindy Prescott. The knife is also a tradition in the SCREAM movies, in every movie a knife has been used. A knife is also more threatening and blood thirsty than a gun, scopophiliacs find more pleasure in death by knife from all of the blood and gore shown.

SCREAM 1: SCREAM was originally titled Scary Movie SCREAM 2: Most of the outdoor scenes are filmed at the Agnes

SCREAM 3: The house used during the climax, where most of the
killings are done, is the same house, used as a school in HALLOWEEN H20: 20 YEARS LATER.

SCREAM 4: Originally planned for an October 2010 release date,

but due to writing delays, SCRE4M was rescheduled for 15th April 2011.

CONCLUSION
I have learnt the basic budgets for Hollywood Films and what are considered as low budgets, medium budgets and high budgets. Any influences that I may take from my findings are possible previous sequels of the final girl escaping the killer.
