We Are One In The Eucharist

After the Last Supper and before He was arrested: 1. Jesus prayed for his friends. 2. He also prayed for all the people in the world.

He asked the Father to make all his friends united, that is, to live in peace and love with one another.

Jesus prays for all of us to be happy together and to be close to one another as He and the Father are one. When we live in peace and love, people will know that we are His friends.

In the Eucharist, Jesus gives us Himself so we can be united more closely with God and with one another.

All who eat the Bread of Life are one.

(1Corinthians 10:17).

When we receive Communion, our friendship with Jesus grows.

What does receiving Communion do to us? 1. It helps us to love God and others. 2. It helps us to be followers of Jesus. 3. It helps us to be good members of our families, school and the community. Together we show others what Gods love is like.

During the Holy Mass: -How do we show our union with Jesus and with one another? 1. when we pray together the Our Father as one family of God. 2. when we offer each other the Sign of Peace.

This is to express our willingness to share the love and peace of God to others. This is to show our unity with the other members of Gods family.

The Eucharist is a sign of the unity of the people of God, which is the mark of the Church. CCC #1325 The Eucharist builds up the Church by drawing those who receive it to closer union with Christ and reconciling them with one another. CFC #1720
