An autonomous institute under Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises

The Institute

NIESBUD is an apex body under the Ministry of Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises, Government of India for coordinating and overseeing the activities of various institutions/ agencies engaged in entrepreneurship development particularly in the area of small industry and small business. The Institute which is registered as a Society under Societies Registration Act, 1860 (XXI of 1860), started functioning from 6th July, 1983.

The policy, direction and guidance to the Institute is provided by its Governing Council whose Chairman is the Minister of MSME. The Executive Committee consisting of Secretary (Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises) as its Chairman and Director General of the Institute as its Member-Secretary executes the policies and decisions of the Governing Council through its whole-time Director General.

Goal
The superordinate goal of NIESBUD is to promote, support & sustain Entrepreneurship & Small Business through Training Education & Research Consultancy And other interventions throughout the globe

Library

Well stocked with latest books, publications, magazines and journals related to entrepreneurship and allied subjects. Nearly 5,000 volumes relating to entrepreneurship More than 100 national and international journals and periodicals Collaborated with other institutions for exchange of information, publications and newsletters related to entrepreneurship. Provides consultation, loans and reference services to users. To facilitate reference and use by the readers, it remains open from 9.30 A.M. to 6.00 P.M.

Training Aids Division Involved in planning and executing activities relating to production of Audio- Visual Aids. Developed over a dozen video films on various topics relating to entrepreneurship. Designed and developed 'Entrepreneurial Motivation Kit' which is very widely used for conducting motivational laboratory in entrepreneurship training. Responsible for developing simulation exercises and sets of transparencies on selected topics.

Conference Facilities The Institute has spacious, well-equipped 08 Conference Halls and Committee Rooms with variety of audio-visual and other latest training equipment for conferences and small group work.

Accomodation The Institute has international standard twin-sharing hostel rooms with excellent facilities. While it has 32 such rooms at present, another 16 such rooms are being added to meet the growing requirement.

The Status Analysis Study on Entrepreneurship in India; Potential of Women Entrepreneurship in India; Successful Women Entrepreneurs: Their Identity, Expectations and Problems and Directory of EDP Institutions in India are some of the notable research publications by the Institute Information materials for entrepreneurs like Handbooks on Industrial Laws; Commercial Laws; Ready Reckoner for Product Selection etc. have been prepared. Directory of Experts. Newsletter covering Schemes; News; Views; Forthcoming Activities; Agency Profile; Entrepreneurial Profile etc

Creation & Capacity Building Of EDP Institutions The Institute provides support and guidance in establishing EDP institutions. The assistance covers developing programmes & faculty, providing training, library facilities and sharing experiences of conducting programmes at the initial stage(s)

Small Business In Focus The Institute focuses its attention on small business development by encouraging and supporting arrangements in remote and backward areas. The number and percentage of small business among small entrepreneurs is very large. The Institute concentrates its efforts on evolving methodology for training, supporting and sustaining this Group

National/International Forum For Exchange Of Ideas & Experiences The Institute organizes National as well as International Meets for sharing experiences with a view to enhance success in implementation of entrepreneurship development programmes Organizes Workshops and Seminars on contemporary issues/topics such as sustaining entrepreneurship, emerging entrepreneurial opportunities etc Encourages foreign delegations for mutual exchange of experiences

Developing Entrepreneurial Culture The Institute strives to creating climate conducive to emergence of entrepreneurs from all strata of society. Conducts awareness campaigns for students of school, college and Institutions of Higher Learning. Produces and distributes material for use by mass media like TV, AIR etc Organizes group discussions representing cross-sections of the society

Services To Affiliate Members The Institute affiliates individuals/ institutions / organizations engaged in entrepreneurship development and related activities as Ordinary, Associate and Corporate Members. The Institute offers the following services to the Members

Become Members of the Society and thus contribute towards.Discussing strategies for propagating entrepreneurship. Provision of Concessional Facilities. Free Services (Library, Documentation etc.) Free Academic Advice/Guidance.

Sustaining Entrepreneurship Sustaining existing entrepreneurs is an important activity. In this direction, the Institute organizes Continuing Education Programmes for SSI Entrepreneurs besides providing counselling and consultancy. Short duration training programmes on Working Capital Management, Marketing, Project Identification & Selection, Accounting etc. are conducted on campus while counselling / consultancy is provided on and off campus.
