UTV entered the broadcasting business in Sept 2007 with a clearly differentiated strategy based on extensive studies on changing viewership patterns of Indian audiences. Launched on 19th August 2011, UTV Stars is a mass specialty Entertainment Channel, dedicated solely to Bollywood and its most sought after celebrities. Coming from the UTV group, which has a strong foothold in the Indian Film Industry, the launch of a Bollywood Centric Channel was a logical extension. Launched in September 2007, Bindass has established itself as a 360 degree Entertainment Brand for the Indian Youth. The company also went Public. 1996: UTV contracted with Walt Disney. 1997: Launched the most expensive serial namely, SEA HAWKS .


1998: The company forayed into animation . 2000: Ventured into co-production 2004: Entered into theatre distribution under the subsidiary UTV communications. 2005-till date: UTV reconsolidated their roots by launching two full time channel namely UTV Bindaas and UTV Movies. The company entered into production of films and is doing it successfully till date.

In 1995 they forayed into post production In 1995-96, ventured into movie production and distribution. The idea was to develop into an integrated entertainment company, with a focus on content creation. Since then have produced movies like LOC, Lakshya, Lagaan, Bluffmaster, Swades, etc.

Entered the animation arena in 1998 UTV Toons Their advertising films division is in the business of producing films and audio-visuals for agencies and direct clients. Clients serviced include HLL, Procter&Gamble, Maruti Udyog, United Breweries, etc.

In conclusion.
On Screwvala's expansion plate is not just movies and animation but also new media content including gaming. The fun, as he says, is playing in a bigger field.
