In an international business, operations are often located across numerous countries. Since most governments and tax authorities require each operating entity to be established as a separate legal entity, a company code is usually defined. The smallest SAP entity that supports a full legal set of books. Each accounting document is assigned to exactly one company code. Controls the publication of Balance Sheet and P&L Assigned to exactly one operational Chart of Accounts
