Organizational Behaviour

Overt & Covert Stimuli that are present in the Environment

Stimulus

Organism

Perceptual filters, like hearing, seeing & emotional factors personality attitude, etc

Consequence
Positive or Negative Satisfaction & dissatisfaction

Behaviour
Overt & Covert response & pattern of behavior

can be a sound(like someone shouting) a scene(a car accident, a fight. etc...), events(like receiving a paycheck). Organism: is a person, so in OB you can consider that to be an employee or an employer. Behavior: the organism behavior and response in regards to the stimulus( for example a child(Organism) may hit(Behavior) his brother after seeing a violent movie(Stimulus). Consequence: is the outcome that comes after the behavior, it either reinforces(thus repeated) the behavior or punished(thus not repeated). In the child example previously mentioned, his mother can reprimand(Consequence: punishment) him for doing what he did.

Stimulus: is any event that happens in the environment, it

Refers to the manner in which a person experience the world. It is the process by which people organize, interpret & experience ideas & use stimulus materials in the environment so that they satisfy their needs. It involves deciding which information to notice ,how to categorize this information & how to interpret it with in the framework of our existing knowledge .

External factors :- The perception process is influenced by external factors, which may be objects & situations . - Size - Situations - Repetition - Objects - Novelty - Motion - Familiarity

Internal Factors :- Internal factors are within the personal control of the perceivers. They are based on the following :- Psychological Set-up - Personality - Motivation - Learning - Economic & Social Background

The process of perception is receiving, selecting, organising, interpreting,ch ecking & reacting to stimuli. It is like a Input-Throughput-Output process. Input Stimuli Throughput transformation of inputs via selection, organisation & interpretation Outputs ultimate behaviour & action.

It is the process by which people group stimuli into recognizable patterns . Selection gives way to organization & the stimuli selected for attention now appear as a whole. Certain factors as follows helps in understanding the perceptual Organization : -Ambiguous figures - Figure background - Figure Ground - Perceptual Grouping i) Similarity ii) Proximity iii) closure iv) Continuity v) Area
