The magazine I am going to be producing will be advertising and selling new music from unsigned bands and artists

that havent come to the UK yet and in general new and unique music. It will also include information about the top 40 unique to my magazine, voted by readers online each month. Also including the normal chart top 40 to appeal to a wider target audience, therefore covering genres such as pop, indie, RnB and new and current music in the UK. Similar magazines to mine include RWD magazine featuring new unsigned artists. Magazines linking to new and popular music include magazines such as NME, Billboard and Q which also have conventions and the overall style that I want my magazine to have.

Charlotte Smith 17 Female British Birmingham, UK Family, friends, Facebook, music, shopping and horse riding.

The audience I am targeting is both male and female aged 1521, the music genre will be popular/RnB/Indie and also unsigned artists. This age group will want to keep up to date with new music and be able to feel like they have been a part in discovering new artists.

The price group my magazine will be in is the medium price range of around 2.50-3.00. I have chosen this price range so it will be affordable to my target audience. My magazine will also appeal to all races including the genres specific and unique to particular cultures.

Jack Johnson 19 Male Italian/British London, UK Friends, his girlfriend, music, family, skateboarding and football.

USP (Unique selling point): My magazine features up and coming music artists that are unsigned and havent had much publicity. There is a gap in the market for this type of magazine, therefore meaning it will do well as there arent many out in stores. After conducting some research I found that most magazines featuring unsigned artists are all online, meaning there is no physical magazine for readers to collect or subscribe to, also meaning no profit is being made. Every monthly issue will include a voucher to collect the top unsigned chart single from a HMV store or be available to download online. This creates synergy by linking two companies to market the products, also creating revenue for the unsigned artists by giving them exposure and making it easy for readers to redeem the ir vouchers.

The is a good way to market a magazine as the radio host would be talking directly to an audience about the magazine, although the target audience for my magazine may not listen to the radio often. By advertising on it would be useful as people would usually be bored on their journey and would have the magazine to read, they may also use are easy to read the transport often. by everyone and can be placed almost anywhere making it easier to reach the target audience as well as others.

By using it can help to make more profit off of the magazine, for example by connecting with a publisher it brings the two companies together to market, distribute and produce it. Also by using Facebook and twitter it creates more exposure. are another good way to market a magazine as they are large and clear to see making it memorable for readers.

Marketing

Using the to market and advertise a magazine is very useful, by making pages on social networks such as Facebook or Twitter creates more knowledge about the magazine and as my target audience are the main users of social networking sites this would appeal to them also

IPC Media produces over 60 iconic media brands, with print alone reaching almost two thirds of UK women and 42% of UK men almost 26 million UK adults while our websites collectively reach over 20 million users every month. IPC's diverse print and digital portfolio offers something for everyone, with a focus on three core audiences: men, mass market women and upmarket women. IPC publish magazines such as NME, now and TV times.
After researching magazine publishers I have decided that IPC would be the most suitable to publish my magazine. I came to this decision as the magazines they already publish are of the same price range and overall style my magazine will have. I decided to go against publishers such as Bauer and Conde Nast as the main type of magazine they publish are television guides, meaning IPC will have better knowledge on how to get my magazine off the ground.

The Bauer Media Group is one of Europe's leading media companies. The Bauer family has managed the publishing company since its inception 136 years ago. This continuity in the corporate management is a unique feature of the family-run company and a contributing factor in its stable growth and success. Around 8,700 employees at 15 locations in Europe, the US and Asia entertain and inform millions of people every day. Bauer Media Group publishes 46 magazines in Germany and is market leader in TV Guides with its titles achieving a paid-for circulation of 8 million copies. Bauer Media Group is also market leader in women's weeklies. BRAVO, the largest youth magazine in Europe dominates the youth magazine market in Germany.

The overall concept of my magazine is a new music magazine aimed to fill a gap in the market in order to introduce unsigned bands to my target audience of male and female aged 15-21. I have decided to call my magazine NOVA. I also have numerous ideas for the double page spread story, but have not yet come to a decision on which one to use. I am therefore going to create another online poll in order to account for what my target audience would be most interested in reading. The publisher I will be using will be IPC as I feel they are a brand that will suit my magazine and will know how to launch my magazine. I will also market and advertise my magazine accordingly by using billboards, posters and chose where to distribute it carefully in order to create as much exposure as possible.
Overall the main aim of my magazine is to promote and help to launch unsigned and up and coming artists in the music world of all genres. By making it more than one genre I can appeal to a wider target audience.

Story idea 1: Interview with star on the cover about how they were discovered by the magazine and what their plans for the future are. Large main image on left hand side of page. Story idea 2: Article on a current artist in the top 40 chart about their new single out. Large image on right hand side of page. Story idea 3: Article on tours of a variety of artists all in the top 40 (no undiscovered). Large image as background. Story idea 4: Double page spread of fact files on up and coming artists also unsigned, features on where they are playing next and where to buy their music. Large image as background.

I have conducted a variety of research in order to find out what my target audience are looking to get from a music magazine.

I created an online poll on my yolasite in order to find out what name they think would suit my magazine. The overall results show that NOVA is the most popular, therefore I will be using that name, it means new in Italian, showing that the music featured in the magazine will be new, fresh and undiscovered, making the reader feel like they are being told new information that nobody else will have. I also created another poll to see what my target audience would be most interested in reading on my double page spread. The consensus showed that they would prefer to read interviews of artists to find out what their personality and music is like.
I also filmed 10 vox pops to get a feel of which magazines my target audience buy, how often they buy them and how much they would pay for them. This helped me greatly as I now know which price bracket to put my magazine in and how to use similar conventions of the magazines stated in order to appeal to my target audience.
