*Calculation: Total time on type of media * 100 Total time on media use within ten days

Interpretation of result
Among various media, I spend 89% of my media use time on IPhone's applications and on internet. For social networking sites (Facebook, Twitter & Blogger) and IPhone applications, I spent 34% of media use time on checking up these media. Print materials , radio and television only take me 11% of time.

Internet I spent averagely 3.8 hours on internet ever day. It comes to

be second major group of time amongst my peers. In other word, my time used on internet is slightly higher than the other JOUR1111 Students.

Okay, its time for explanation

First of all, internet is undoubtedly playing a main role of my daily life. So.why is it? And why it was not the same compared to 10 years ago? Being a university student, loads of researches are needed to be done for assignments. Online resources appear to be the most convenience way of gathering information. Through the internet, we can even access to most of the journals form the library; and information (no matter it is credible or not) from various online encyclopedia such as Wikipedia. Even more, there are always cases on how internet helps particular fields of studies. For me, I am studying languages . Therefore, I would have difficulties on understanding foreign languages sometimes. One big part of my online activities is to look up meanings of words. Online dictionaries and translators now replaced paper dictionaries as it is much more convenience, especially for pronunciations of words.

Be more personally, what I experienced and what I feel

When I was still in primary school and high school, I always have overweighed school bag with me. But now in university, we are able to access lecture notes online but not necessarily printing the papers and bring it with us ever day. I am able to manger my life in a more convenience way with technology. Internet helps me to develop more personal interests such as photography, languages, films and music. Old media such as print materials and television are irreplaceable. However, new media (What I refer is internet and IPhone application) makes life more easy and informative.

Questions
There is 38% of my time used on social networking sites, why is it happening and what is the point of using it? What the effects social networking sites bring to our society?

Noticeably, social networking becomes my habitually media use. Despite some disadvantages that social networking's sites bring to us, they do link people all over the world and bring us a easy way for contacting each other. In Peer survey result (refer to figure below), it shows that JOUR1111 students usually have one or more Facebook account, only 2.8% of students do not have any accounts. I own one Facebook account and it makes me easy to contact with my friends, colleagues and families.

Shortcomings be accurate due to 1.However, the result may not

follow reason: Most of the time I listen to music and do my other works at the same time. In my data collection, music is counted as individual. Therefore, it spreads out the data and makes the data becomes inaccurate.

2. Nonetheless, statistics that showed in this report will change over time span of the participants. It can only shows that new media are now dominant form of media.

Alright, then what is the relationship between this report and study of journalism? How you link yourself to the world of journalism?
In modern society, internet is the most dominant tool of information flows. Improving, communicating with the field of finance, education, politics are all depend on internet. Under development of New media, we are able to create and share our stories without boarders. However, there are massive amounts of critics about internet has been disturbing humans interpersonal communication. No matter who is right or wrong. It is a fact that internet emerged in our world and spread information quickly as fast as it can be. We can even imagine our children living in a typing-communication world. We can sell Print media has been peeling for a while. However, old media will not be replaced at all, social media can never replace reporting.

Journalist is a professional full-time job that requires practices, networks and credible resources. News from bloggers can not be regarded as credible. Blogs are more like stories. In the future, newspapers will simply evolve into other forms. Old

media will not die.

It is not end of the world for journalists, we are still the one who present the past, current and the future of human history.
