Patterns and Colors

Pattern and colors are only to be used when they support the conveyance of information. It should be used to point out specific information and not for the purpose of appearance. Few and clearly distinguishable colors and / or patterns are to be used.

The following must be considered for black and white presentation : - Arrange patterns from dark to light ; - Black dominates over patterns (use black for emphasis) - Solid black areas require long plotter times and create print-out or photocopy quality problems.

Presentation Skills

Background Colors
Background colors do not convey information and therefore - for overhead transparencies their use is prohibited ; - for slides, a light-blue background is to be used to minimize glare in darkened rooms.

Presentation Skills

- Short and precise formulation Recommendation : Maximum 10 lines with maximum 7 words - Upper and lower-case lettering (better readability) - Separate text blocks with empty lines - Emphasis Italics Boldface - Organize lists (numbers, dashes, bullets)
