Oxygen 20%
Nitrogen 79%
4/9/12
No, I disagree. Part A is nitrogen, Part B is oxygen and Part C is other gases such as carbon dioxide and water vapour. It is true that all living things need oxygen, however nitrogen compose of 79% in the air, making it the highest amount in the air.

Recap On Theory
Pay attention to the next few slides, it will help you to answer the questions for the next two worksheets.

Fish
Oxygen in the water enters the fish through the mouth and flows over its gills, oxygen passes through the walls of the blood vessels and into the blood. Oxygen is then carried by the blood to different parts of the fish.
4/9/12
Fish
Carbon dioxide passes through the walls of the blood vessels, dissolves in the water and is carried away as the water flows out from under the gill covers.
4/9/12
Fish
Take in oxygen through their gills. As water passes over the gills, oxygen in the water is absorbed by the gills, while carbon dioxide given out by the fish is removed.
4/9/12
Plants
Plants have tiny openings, mostly found on the underside of the plant leaf called stomata. They use these stomata for their gaseous exchange. During respiration throughout the day, plants take in oxygen and produce carbon dioxide.
4/9/12
Plants
Stomata are commonly found on the underside of the leaves, away from direct sunlight to prevent water from evaporating
4/9/12
Plants
Oxygen from the air enters the leaves through minute openings located on the leaves surfaces. These openings are called stomata. Oxygen is used to release energy from the food they have made. In the process, carbon dioxide is made and released through the stomata.
4/9/12
Mammals
Have lungs and they take in air through their nostrils. Some mammals such as whales and dolphins also have lungs but they breathe through their blowholes on the top of their heads.
