Identify tools used for soldering

Explain rules for soldering Explain chip soldering

Terms used in Soldering

Soldering generally means joining two metallic parts

using an alloy The following are the terms used in soldering: Solder 60/40 solder Rosin Wetting Tinning Solder bridge Cold solder connection Good solder connection

Tools used for Soldering

Rules for Soldering - I

The rules for soldering are:

Use the right type of soldering iron

Switch 'ON' the soldering iron as it reaches the operating temperature The hot tip has to be kept on a piece of metal to dissipate the access heat

Rules for Soldering - II

Clean the connection point thoroughly Use enough solder to cover the lead and the copper foil area of the connection Use sufficient heat Check the connection properly

Cautions for Soldering - I

The cautions for soldering are as follows:

Do not use excess solder

Do not use a spread solder on copper foil lines on the PCB Do not sit under a fan while soldering

Position the PCB so that the gravity tends to keep the solder in the desired position

Cautions for Soldering - II

Do not over heat the components or the PCB Avoid the vibration of PCB or components while soldering Incase of a dry solder, re-weld the joint to get a shiny bright finish

Chip Soldering - I
Chip soldering technology is used for connecting the

chip to the PCB through solder joints

The advantages of Chip soldering are:

Improved performance Improved reliability Improved thermal capabilities Low cost

Summary - I
The Screwdrivers (small and medium size), Side

cutter, nail cutter or micro shear , Soldering iron, Tweezer or noise, Blade or knife are the various tools used for soldering
Soldering generally means joining two metallic parts

using an alloy
Right type of soldering iron has to be used for

soldering

Summary - II
You need to use enough solder to cover the lead and

the copper foil area of the connection

Sufficient heat must be used for the soldering

process
The connection to be soldered has to be clean and

you need to use enough solder to cover the lead and the copper foil area of the connection that has to be soldered

Summary III
The connection need to be checked properly before

the soldering process begins and you need to use sufficient heat for a good solder
Chip soldering technology is used for connecting the

chip and the supporting material on which a circuit is formed through solder joints
