Vulcana Bai is situated in the middle of Wallachia, on the valley Vulcana, 20 km north of Targoviste (the ancient capital of Romania)

and 100 km from Bucharest (the actual capital).

From an ancient document gave by the king Radu Serban (1604) we learn that Prince Vlad the Impaler (known for his cruel punishments) bought two villages of which one was called Vlcana. According to the territorial administration of Romania, Vulcana-Bi is formed of three villages : Vulcana-Bi, where the is its residence, Nicolaeti and Vulcana de Sus.

Bunea Monastery, an historical monument and religious heritage is situated not far from the vilage (only 4.5 kilometers distance), on a hill where you can reached only by foot and sometimes with the tractor.

International Ecumenic Center, studying place and spiritual holidays, including an Orthodox church, a mosque and a synagogue.

Education in Vulcana-Bi is attained through two schools with classes form the first grade to the eight, the Ion MARE Vulcana-Bi school and Vlad EPE Vulcana de Sus, school. The two schools have 8 teachers and 16 professors. Our community does not have children who do not go to school and from the two schools mentioned above, several students have obtained outstanding results in contests and various artistic events. Both schools have libraries with thousands of volumes and hundreds of readers.

In our community we also have two preschools Snow Withe Vulcana-Bi, with three groups of children and Childrens Paradise Vulcana de Sus, with two groups of children.

The local administrative activity is ensured by the Vulcana - Bi Local Council as a deliberative authority and by the Vulcana - Bi mayor as the executive authority.

The Local Council is formed out of 13 councilors. The meetings are held in good conditions and have as a constant objective the development of the area and the need to satisfy the citizens needs. .

The vice-mayor was a teacher and suggested that every year to celebrate teacher's day , are invited all teachers who have taught children at schools in the village.

The best students from local schools receive a special award named after the first teacher of the village.

Royal residence, a capital between 1396 and 1714, it was also the most important economical, political, military and cultural center, of the Romanian Country.

The Royal Court is en ensemble of buildings built between the XV-XVIII century by Mircea cel Batran and later by Vlad Tepes (1456-1462), who completed the complex with the well known defense and watch tower lately known as Chindia which is, today, a symbol of Targoviste. .
