The Theme of Daniel

Names are important in the Hebrew mind. I believe it is the same with the country Nigeria. Every name given to a child is significant and well thought out by parents. So it is with the Hebrew culture.

The Theme of Daniel

There is one Central Golden Theme that runs throughout the book of Daniel. God ultimately vindicates , delivers and restores His faithful children who are in the centre of paganism (heathenism-Babylon) to Himself.

Daniel The Theme

Theme
VINDICATION, DELIVERANCE AND RESTORATION

Every chapter of the book of Daniel promises ultimate vindication, deliverance and restoration for those who are faithful in the midst of heathenism. Each chapter contains the pattern of trial and trouble climaxed by elevation and glory.

Daniel 3 The Theme

Theme
VINDICATION, DELIVERANCE AND RESTORATION

Narrations

The saints are tested again, this time more severely. Being found faithful to the commandments of Yahweh, they experience His deliverance from a time of trouble, then are made to prosper as the result of further promotion by the king. (Daniel 3:30)

Daniel 4 The Theme

Theme
VINDICATION, DELIVERANCE AND RESTORATION

Narrations

The idolatrous king who defies the Creator of Heaven and Earth by his pride is warned and then debased. With repentance came restoration (Daniel 4:34) and return to the throne. Here was a promise that God would bless even the heathen who acknowledged Him and give their heart to Him.

Daniel 5 The Theme

Theme
VINDICATION, DELIVERANCE AND RESTORATION

Narrations

A heathen king by blasphemy passes the point of no return. Judged, then condemned, he loses all. In contrast the messenger of God is exalted to a position of authority.

Daniel 6 The Theme

Theme
VINDICATION, DELIVERANCE AND RESTORATION

Narrations

The hardest test comes to Daniel in his old age. He is found free from treason and ground for complaint except in connection with the law of his God. This death threat also fails, and the prophet experiences deliverance from a night of trial. As a result, this Daniel prospered.

Daniel 9 The Theme

Theme
VINDICATION, DELIVERANCE AND RESTORATION

Narrations

Daniel lacks understanding with regards to a critical matter regarding the salvation of the world, prays and the greatest prophecy about the Messiah and Saviour is given in answer to his prayer. The Messiah would vindicate the character of God by living in sinful flesh and conquer sin in human nature while saving who desires to be saved.

Narrations
Chapters 1-6 and chapter 9 (narrative portion) all tell the same story with emphasis upon trial, vindication, deliverance, restoration and reward. The prophetic chapters enlarge on what has been depicted in the narrations. The prophecies enlarge all the narrations and place them in the global context.

"Now I am come to make thee understand what shall befall thy people in the latter days ."-Daniel 10 :14 . At the close of the vision, the angel described the climax of the drama in these words: "And at that time shall Michael stand up, the great Prince which standeth for the children of thy people : and there shall be a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation even to that same time : and at that time thy people shall be delivered, every one that shall be found written in the book ."-Daniel 12 :1 God is spelling out the event of all events in His great gospel plan-the Vindication, Deliverance and Restoration of His people .

Very Important
You may be wondering why every thing seem to be repeating? Well, God has infinite options in dealing with an issue, but within the infinite options there is always one correct way, that is- the Godly and right way.

Very Important
On the other hand Satan has cut himself off from the Source of Wisdom and can only regurgitate previous knowledge and wisdom he had before his fall. (By the way he is still wise.) He has no knew ideas. But he has to regurgitate and rearrange old ideas to be successful against those who think they can resist him without the abiding presence of the Holy Spirit.

Very Important
He also intensify his sophistry in every episode with us. He learns new things from those who are connected to the Source of Wisdom and make evil out of the good that God teaches us. Because nothing is original with Satan except for sin, he repeats himself with everyone of his sophistry. In addition, he knows the principles that governs how the Creator deals with issues more than we do.

Very Important
Remember Satan was the covering and anointed cherub (Isaiah 14:12-17; Ezekiel 28:1219) who once stand beside God in heaven. He has learned much. And he uses what he has learned for misery and mayhem. The point I am making is-God will only use Godly and right method and will not deviate. And so you will find repetition because He is using the one

Very Important
Satan always paint the same picture over and over again. But place the same picture in a new frame. He has an assortment of frames that will catch us.

Very Important
Not because Satan is cut off from the Source of Wisdom and you and I are connected to the Source of Wisdom means that you or I are smarter then Satan. Even Jesus made no attempt to get into a conversation with him to see who could outwit the other and win the conversation.

Very Important
Jesus quoted scriptures and that is how Jesus won every verbal utterance from the devil. Why? Jesus quoted superior wisdom (the scriptures) which originates with God. After quoting scripture Jesus made no further comments. But chase the devil away. This was done in the wilderness (Matt 4) and Gergesenes (Matt. 8). We have two examples.

Very Important
My wonderful friends, It must be recognized that our adversary the devil -before he fell was created wiser than all of Gods other intelligent creatures including Man (Isaiah 14:12-17; Ezekiel 28:12-19) . Satan has not loss his wisdom because of sin, so do not parley with him, you do that and you lose your soul salvation. Follow the example of Jesus, it is written.
Parley- A discussion or conference, especially one between enemies over terms of truce or other

Point of Importance

The theme of Daniel That there is a God who will vindicate, deliver and restore His people is true and will come to pass. Each chapter contains the pattern of trial and trouble climaxed by elevation and glory- is truth unalterable .

Never Parley with Satan, for Jesus our perfect example never did. You parley with Satan, you lose. Thank you for viewing this presentation. Will send the others shortly. Harold Constantine Wong
