ANKUR

Initiated in 1993

A centre at Assam for special education of handicapped children aged between 5 and 15 years.

Provides educational and recreational activities to around 60 inmates.

Skills such as cookery, painting, embroidery, bamboo crafts, weaving, stitching.. Taught to the inmates

KAPPAGAM - SHELTER

Similar to Ankur.

2nd centre for special education of challenged children at Coimbatore.

Children being taught self help skills making paper covers, greeting cards, brooms, candles...

The centre provides the children with physiotherapy and speech therapy..

SANJIVANI FREE MOBILE MEDICAL FACILITY

Started in the year 2003..

To provide free mobile medical facility to the interior villagers in Assam...


2 Mobile vans dedicated to the project. Basic medical kits, BP measuring unit etc. 400 medical camps in a year. Till date 1,54,500 patients benefited..

PROJECT SHAKTI
To create income-generating capabilities for underprivileged rural women. Providing small business opportunities to the rural women.. Training the entrepreneur, help them in becoming more confident A shakti entrepreneur conducts business of around Rs 15,000 per month. Earnings exceed Rs 1000. Currently in more than 5000 villages.. HLLs vision is to expand to the whole country by 2010

SHAKTI VANI
Poor Hygiene main cause of common diseases in rural areas.

Educates rural masses about basic health practices.

Infant nutrition, sanitation, good hygine practices, prevention of common diseases, etc.

By 2007, this Programme was covered in more than 50,000 villages, reaching out to 50 million people.

LIFEBUOY SWASTHYA CHETNA:


Started in 2002 Propagating the message of hygiene and health in villages .. It targets children and mothers.. Program was initiated so as to reduce the epidemics arising due to unhygienic conditions. Communication through, doctors, schools, key opinion leaders, demonstrations etc. To emphasize the need to use soaps.

Yashodadham Village
Village reconstructed by HUL in the Bhachau Taluka of Gujarat's Kachch district.

Residents belong to the Nani Chirai village, which was completely destroyed during the earthquake in January 2001.

289 homes, 25 acres land, a school building, a multi purpose community centre, health centre & village admin room

Protecting the environment


Eliminate or reduce effluent at the source of generation. Re-cycle effluent. Treat what is left.

All factories are provided with chimneys of adequate height so that gaseous emissions do not pollute. Solid wastes either recycled within the company or through third party contractors.
