Steps to Follow:
1. Open (or read in) the input file named BNL_W07A_FKN.inp: Use the GUI menu method:
Select the Open ANSYS File ICON
Select the file BNL_W07A_FKN.inp Click OK

Workshop Supplement

Basic Structural Nonlinearities

Or Command Input Method: /INPUT, BNL_W07A_FKN.inp

Note: This file consists of APDL input which will automatically erase the current database from previous session, change the jobname to W07A-BNL. It will then generate the geometry, including the contact pair, define the materials and apply boundary conditions to begin the current exercise.

REPEAT steps 4-6 using FKN = 1 and FKN = 10 and complete the following table:

Workshop Supplement

Basic Structural Nonlinearities

FKN Contact Pressure 0.1 1 10

Only about a 2% increase in contact pressure between FKN = 1 and FKN =10. Approximately 20% increase in contact pressure between FKN = 0.1 and FKN =1.
