S + V + to- inf in order to / so as to + V- bare inf (more formal)

Notes : In negative , we use in order not to, so as not to rather than not to

E.g: He studies very hard in order not to/ so as not to fail the exam

Adverbial clauses of Purpose S + V so that/ in order that S + V ( usually modal verbs : can, could, will, would, may, might)

E.g Peter studies hard so that he will get good mark in the coming examination.
