GLOBAL IMPERTAIVES

Challenges and opportunities

Presented by: Imran ahmed BBA (HONS)-IV

The world in 2030 will have some distinctive features. It will have more people than can be effecitvely sustained by the planet. It will also be very short of affordable energy, ecological threatened, highly competitive will be shortened and over whelmed with information.

Distinctive: capable of being classified Sustained:maintained at length without interruption or weakening Ecological:the branch of biology concerned with the relations between organisms and their environment Whelmed:overcome, as with emotions or perceptual stimuli

Challenges and opportunities for Pakistan:Pakistans driving force must be having better control over future sovereignty, economically, politically and culturally.

Sovereignty :the authority of a state to govern

another state

Population:It is expected Pakistan will have population ranging from 230 to 260 million, that indicates it fifth worlds largest populated country, of which 130-140 million are expected to live in urban areas. The global population dynamics whereby population will rise from 6.3 billion to at least 8.2 billion by 2030. It has major implications for availability and sustainability of resources needed for mankind to survive.

Employment:-

Employment generation and matching of skills in a changing workplace will be central to poverty elimination, economic growth, and social stability.

Resources:Natural resources will be depleted and stressed especially water and land. Assuming the current water consumpation patterns continue unabated, projections show that nearly half of the worlds projected population will live in water-stressed river basins in 2030. Pakistan wil also face same suffering, its sotrage capacity of only 9% of average annual flows compared with a world average of 40%. Unabated Without any reduction in intensity or strength

Sustainability:The battle of biodiversity in humans high growth determine future of the planet. The global crop germplasm is eroding at 1-2% per year, a quarter of our soils are degraded, and even more soil is being destroyed at higer rates than we can retrieve or add. Germplasm:a collection of genetic resources for an organism

Climate change:Climate change whose impact and capacity to destabilise the geographical spread and location of human habitats is only just beginning of to be understood. Pakistan must prepare to adapat to the coming changes, and mitigate their negative impacts. Mitigate: make less severe or harsh

Food:Globally , food security will be under threat as much from degraded land an insufficient production , as it will be from a growing demand for different foods and higer nutrition requirements. Pakistan with its limited arable land and water, amid rising expectations of its people. Arable: capable of being farmed productively

Energy:As the increasing demand of Asia because of rapid increase in population will cost less supply of energy. Pakistan too will acquire enormous amounts of energy to meet its developmental challenges, and to attain its vision for growth. Enormous:extraordinarily large in size or extent or amount or power or degree

Rural and urban dimensions:In 2007, people will move from rural to urban areas, in first time historically. Pakistan too will face the challenge of managing approximately 80 million more city dwellers by 2030. Dwellers: a person who inhabits a particular place

The race for talent:Men and women of talent skills will be valued and sought for all nations because of change in workplace, work, demands for greater productivity and innovation to make up for aging population. Migration will be common, and no laws will be able to keep talented persons from being lost to other countries where they are valued more.

Political aspects:Governments and societies will be under strain from economic globalisation and the dispersion of technologies, especially information technology. One result will be that traditional centers of power-governments or industrial and business leaders will no longer be able to digest infromation fast enough or to make every critical decision. Individuals would have more information at their fingertips then most countries or corporations have today.

Pakistan will be under pressure politically and socially from other centres of political and economic power in the world, including non-state entities and international organisations, Pakistan would require mature and strong institutions to absorb the positive influences only.

Social aspect:Globally, societies will move inexorably towards a creeping mono-culture. However, to ensure a fullfiling enviornment, we must ensure that Pakistanis will lead a richer and better quality life in 2030, within the framework of social justice based on our rich and diverse cultural heritage.
Inexorable: requests, reason Creep: to go stealthily or furtively

Gender parity:-

Attaining gender parity and youth literacy remains a challenge due to large regional variations and low female enrolement in rural areas.

Just society:In 2030 like other nations, Pakistan also continue to be multiethnic, multicultural, and multireligious, and Pakistan would need to effectively manage its transition to a just society and a developed nation. The challenge will be to strengthen social and political institutions, to ensure that any imbalances and social tensions do not hold the country back. Multicultural:A multiethnic society is one with members belonging to more than one ethnic group

Techno-economic-knowledge revolution:The ongoing massive economic globalisation and dispersion of information and technology is changing the scale and nature of human enterprise. This is likely an important challenge for Pakistan.

SWOT analysis:Strength Threats Grater cooperation with Asia Pakistans competitors will will be a key strategy. be other asian countries, specially during the earlier portion of the vision period. Weakness Pakistan must embrace globalisation and empty it as a principal tool for economic growth. Opportunity Pakistan needs to put in place the infrasturcture and matching of skills with demand, within the country as well as those of transnational agents.

Nature of work and workplace:Several factors are influencing work and employment in the emerging global 24 hour/7 day societies and economies of the 21 century, but nearly all of them are technology related. In addition, countries playing catch-up are also more open to trade (i.e. Have a high ratio of exports of GDP).

Conclusion:All these factors have resulted in a continuously changing economy, with technology and globalisation influencing. Pakistan will need to address the challenges fo a changing workplace, changing demand for skills, and a flexible gender inclusive workforce.
