CONTINUOUS

> Monitored continuously during their day to day activities in clinical practice.

> focuses on tasks or projects, which demands performance of the learner.

ADVANTAGES
Preceptors can assess progress as it takes place. The preceptee receives continual and accurate feedback on performance and can identify where improvement is required. Areas for development and improvement can be planned together. The preceptees are more likely to feel supported and encouraged.

WHEN

: During learning activity

WHAT : Will and can aid in

learning

WHY

to provide feedback

on preceptees progress.

FORMATIVE

A I M
Motivate your preceptee Maximize their learning

FORMATIVE is not meant for grading purposes; instead , it is designed to diagnose learning needs as a basis for learning instruction.

SUMMATIVE

WHEN : At the end of instruction WHAT :

WHY
Information on student learning overtime

to provide feedback to students

SUMMATIVE

Aim :
To provide an overall measure of student performance.

STRATEGIES
1. OBSERVATION

2. SELF-EVALUATION

3. FEEDBACK

First meeting/interview with preceptee Negotiate a learning contract/assessment plan Arranged period for supervise clinical practice and formative assessment Conduct meetings, discussions, feedbacks

Achieved?

Any outstanding learning to achieve?

arrange further period for practice,supervison,assessment

Draw new plan

Final meeting/summative assessment

KEY CONCEPT
Reliability
-Relates to the need for judgments resulting from the
assessment to be consistent.

Validity
