MICRO COMPUTERS
A micro computer is a general purpose ,simple and small type of computer. It can do variety of jobs such as
Storage of data Calculations , Control, Output.

Micro Computer is meant for single individual


Ie Only one person can operate the computer @ a time

It generally consist of several IC chips including


Microprocessor chips. Memory chips. Input and Output interface chips among with Input and Output devices such as Keyboard & Video Display

A PC is a small single user, microprocessor based computer generally used at homes, Office & Schools. It designed to meet the personal computing needs of individual. PC are used for preparing normal text documents, spread sheets with predefined calculations, buisness analysis charts, Database Management system, accounting system, etc The configuration varies from system to system. Consist of CPU,monitor,Keyboard,Mouse, floppy disk or CD ROM drives ,Special add on Cards such as Network Interface Card, graphics cards, etc

They are battery operated portable computer smaller enough to be carried in bags. And ideal for users those who have to work away from the office or travels frequently. These computer have
Large storage space, Other peripherals such as serial port, PC cards, modem and Network Interface Card. Also be connected to network or internet to download or transfer data.

Tablet PC is a mobile computer that look like a notebook or a small writing slate but uses stylus pen or finger tips to write or select from the touch screen. It saves whatever we scribbles on the screen with the pen. Pictures can be converted to text with the help of hand recognition software.

A Personal Digital Assistant(PDA) is a small palm size hand held computer which has a small colour touch screen with audo and video features.

Now a days used as Smart Phone, web enabled Palm computer, Portable media player or gaming devices

Mini computers
Mini computer are medium size computer that are more powerful, faster, costlier than micro computer. Mini computers are used for business, education and government departments. Mini computer are designed for single user as well as complex system having multiple terminals. Mini computers are used as servers in network environment where hundreds of personal computers are attached to the network.

Mainframe computers
Mainframe computers are more powerful, costly and faster than Mini Computer. They are generally used for handling the needs of information processing of organization like banks, Insurance companies, hospitals and railways These type of system is placed in central locations with several terminal connected to it. The look like large file cabinet and need large rooms with closely monitored humidity and temperature levels.

SUPER COMPUTERS
Super computers are more powerful and expensive computers. Used for processing complex scientific application that involves task with highly complex calculations and solving problem with mechanical physics such as weather forecasting and climate research systems, nuclear weapon simulations and simulation of aircraft, military organization etc..

Super computers
Super computers use parallel processing and multi processing technologies to solve complex problems. Notes - multiprocessing = uses multiple processor to simultaneously execute multiple programs.
