Basic functions and the scope of business of the Company cover the following:
Railways management rail traffic control rail lines administration efficient and safe transport of passengers and freight provision of services on a regular and timely basis

Maintaining the rail lines ensuring:

fire protection and protection of property within the rail-owned area


meeting the health, sanitary, veterinary, and environmental requirements

Railway network in Poland


Currently, the length of the railway network amounts to 23,500km PKP PLK S.A. manages approx. 20,500 km of which almost 19,000 km of lines are under operation.

Managed infrastructure:
including: 17 800 km main railway lines 1 200 km local railway lines 1 500 km railway lines with suspended traffic
Railway lines under operation are subject to different traffic load from 0 to over 200 trains per 24 hrs which has an impact on their importance for PKP PLK S.A.
