Has one Town Council with five (5) electoral areas. Population of 217,668 (ref. 2000 Population & Housing Census). Population for 2008 was projected to be about 318,689 (population rate of about 5.1% per anum)

Agriculture is one of the major economic activities of the populace. Employment / labour force: 85%: trading activities 5%: government workers 5%: manufacturing 5%: unemployed

Overview
GTZ/LRED started 3 years ago to support local and regional economic development KMF (Kwadaso Market Facility) was established over 15 years ago Initial contributions by market vendors were used to build market Vendors are categorised into micro and small enterprises

There are seven (7) organised commodity groups


Kwadaso Market has received substantial support from the KMA to refurbish it Refsol is currently managing the facility KMA/GTZ/NBSSI agreed to work together to support the government on Kwadaso (4 months ago) Kwadaso was selected as an initial pilot
