Previously, Ronald Klaus had taught in seminaries and Bible schools and other venues both in the USA and in diverse locations throughout the world. But and his wife, Carolyn (a physician with specialty in internal medicine), have focused primarily on Ethiopia and have made many extensive trips there.
Prior to his overseas work he pastored several different congregations in the US. Before that he worked as an engineer and professor. Ronald Klaus attended Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. Receiving a National Defense Education Act fellowship, he completed doctoral studies in chemical engineering with a minor in applied math in 1967. His doctoral thesis was in the field of thermodynamics. As a postdoctoral fellow and research engineer at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory in California, Ron Klaus worked in such areas as thermochemical calculations and solid rocket propellant combustion. After his time in the US Space program Dr. Klaus’s was an assistant professor of chemical engineering and computer science at the University of Pennsylvania.
