Born in Tokyo, Japan, on July 26, 1963, Keiko Matsui is an accomplished jazz keyboardist who has been surrounded by music her entire life. She began playing piano at 5 years of age and starting composing her own pieces in junior high school. At the age of 17, Matsui composed her first major film score and was selected by the Yamaha Music Foundation to become one of the groups recording artists. Since then, Matsui has signed contracts with MCA Records and Sin-Drome Records and released over two dozen albums in the United States and Japan, including her most recent U.S. release, Soul Quest, which came out in 2013. Keiko Matsui is currently on tour in the United States and will soon leave for several performances in Russia at the end of March 2015.
