A. communication Protocol is a formal description of message formats and rules two computers must follow to exchange those messages. There are various conmmunication protocols that are used with Bul Management Systems (BMS). BACnet is a standard communication protocol specifically developed for building automation by the American Society of Heating, Retigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE). Define and differentiate between ‘Open protocols’ and ‘Proprietary Protocols’ in the ‘context of Building Management Systems. (2 marks) All information in a BACnet system is represented in terms of objects. Name five BACnet ‘objects and briefly explain the purpose of each of them. (8 marks) © Explain what a “BACnet Device’ is and differentiate it with a ‘Native BACnet Device’. (4 marks) 4. Explain 3 advantages of BACnet compared to other open protocols available in building automation industry. (6 marks) Question 2 There are various control algorithms implemented in Building Management Systems (BMS). An On/Off type controller is the simplest form of a controller where as a proportional-integral- derivative controller (PID controller) is a generic control loop feedback mechanism. Both these control mechanisms are widely used in BMS. 3. Explain the behaviour of a PID controller as opposed to an On/Off type controller taking ‘the control system of a Fan Coil Unit valve as an example (6 marks) b. Explain the control system of a ‘BMS-integrated!’ Variable Air Volume (VAV) based Air Handling Unit (AHU) of an air-conditioning system highlighting its sensors and BMS based control algorithms. (6 marks) © Ina central Chilled Water Plant of a building with direct-primary pumping scheme and ‘two-way control valves at building load, a minimum flow bypass line is installed between supply and retum chilled water headers to facilitate minimum flow when the system {oad drops below minimum flow of chillers. Explain a suitable control system for the BMS with the aid of diagrams to regulate the bypass valve fitted with a modulating actuator. (8 marks) Page 2 of 4 Question 04 ‘an experienced person forthe post of Evecutive in charge of Procurement in a leading Company in the Power Sector with a modern Stores Comex facility has to be recruited. (a) As an Applicant for the post, Write out a model CV and discuss the major points of merit that will give you an edge in being short-listed for the selection interview [10 Marks) (0) Discuss how you, asa member ofthe Interview Panel, would select a person and which parameters would you consider as critical for this choice? [o5Marks} {c) Can you also agree on and list out a series of Subjective and Objective criteria for Performance Evaluations at the end of a year? [osmarks} Explain any two of following possible Evaluator bias 1. Haloeffect 2. Recency effect 3. Central Tendency (05 Marks} Question 05 ‘Answer any 5 (FIVE) of the following: a) What are Smart goals? (05 Marks} b) Give a brief note on how Creativity and Innovation are essential components for development. {05 Marks} ©) Clarify and explain each of the following terms with examples ‘Charismatic Leadership Team Leadership | iii, Operational Leadership [0S Marks} iv. Visionary Leadership 4) Consider the statement “Feedback is the breakfast of Champions” . Discuss the use of the same in terms of management for improved performance and give examples of how it can be Used to illustrate its meaning in real situations. [05 Marks} e) Why is Communication considered as a very important Component of Soft skils? What are the constraints experienced in communications and give examples of each {05 Marks} f)_ Write about the four different perspectives of Balanced Score card [05 Marks} )_ Whatare the differences in Job evaluation, Job Specification and Job Analysis? [05 Marks] : h) Clarify and explain the following terms: Education, Training, Development and Learning [05 Marks) Page 5 of 5
