1) Look at the articles (le, la, l’, les) in front of the names of countries and discuss
with your partner why and when they are different.
2) Notice the agreement of the adjective of the nationality and discuss with your
partner how you would change the nationality according to whether the person was
male or female.
3) Practise using ‘à’ (meaning ‘in’ in this context) in front of names of towns.
« Elle est autrichienne. Où est-ce qu’elle est née? »
« Elle est née à Vienne »
4) Look at the example conversations below, choose three to five people each from the
list above, create your own questions and answers and guess what the person’s name
is or what nationality they are or what country they are from / live in.
« Je suis suédois »
« Tu t’appelles Jon »
« Je m’appelle Ana »
« Tu habites au Portugal »
