LOUIS BARTHÉLEMY
RENOUVELLE
LA MARQUETERIE
DE DAMAS
Louis Barthélemy’s new take
on Syrian marquetry
After years of being spread out over multiple locations on Rue Mayet, the IDO Diffusion
showroom has united, and expanded, its product range in a single space, in the back of the
courtyard at 84 Rue de Lille. “We offer a trove of exceptional materials, with renowned
labels and bespoke products,” reports William Berthe de Baudinet, who has headed
the company since 2017. “The showroom features artisanal fabrics (hand-woven,
cashmere, raffia…), prominent textile, leather and wallpaper makers, as well
as furniture and lamps by brands like Vaughan, Julian Chichester and Allan
Knight.” Furnishings are displayed on the ground floor and the samples are upstairs.
By appointment only. C.S.A.P.

“It took some wangling to bring the collection to completion, due to the
technological difficulties involved, but the result is very satisfying, especially
as a demonstration of our know-how,” says new Élitis creative director Ariane Dalle.
After eleven years working for the Colefax Group brands Canovas and Larsen, she joined
the Toulouse-based company in February. The unifying thread (literally and figuratively) of
her first collection, developed at her studio in central Paris, is linen—not surprisingly, given
that her grandfather was a weaver who specialized in that noble material. M.B.
LA GALERIE GOOSSENS,
LE RENOUVEAU D’UN
MOBILIER D’EXCEPTION
Galerie Goossens: a new life
for exceptional furnishings

CORALIE MARABELLE
SE MET À
LA DÉCORATION
Homeware by Coralie Marabelle
After extending the scope of the Casa Lopez label from its original specialty of rugs to lamps,
scented candles and tableware, Pierre Sauvage is now offering fabrics and wallpapers. Tissus
Choisis par Casa Lopez has opened on Boulevard Raspail, across the street from the main store.
In compartments reminiscent of stable stalls, it presents a selection of brands that have been
under-represented in France, like Franz Potisek, Carolina Irving and Michael S. Smith.
“The spirit is Anglo-Indian,” Sauvage says, “with lots of colorful prints.” C.S.A.P.

LA FIBRE ÉCOLOGIQUE
The eco-thread

environmental commitment to their consumers. Naturally, their suppliers are following suit,
with more and more textile brands offering eco-friendly fabrics. To name just a few: net curtains
made of recycled Trevira by Dedar, Loro Piana’s recycled cashmere line, the Gamme Pure line
by de Le Cuona (marketed by IDO Diffusion), five types of eco-conscious viscose by Rubelli using
bio-sourced fibers for both warp and weft, and the eco-responsible Natecru Durable collection

UN MODERNISME CHIC
Atelier Tortil’s elegant modernism
L’innovation Innovation
The innovative Italian brand makes it possible to apply a decorative pattern not only to the
walls of a room, but also the doors, furniture and fixtures, from ceiling to chairs, from washbowl
to rugs. Equally original is a new Instabilelab collection that truly lives up to its name: the
Light+Light wallpapers, with hand-painted patterns using phosphorescent pigments that
glow in the dark. In a more conventional but just as spectacular vein, the Oronero collection
creates eye-popping contrasts with gold and black, like the Goldengreenwood wallpaper
featuring supersized palm fronds. M.B.

Les 100
décorateurs
du moment
The 100 leading interior designers
The past year changed the face of interior design. With the onset of the
pandemic, the designers had to change their working methods, traveling less,
telecommuting more. Nonetheless, their agencies and studios remained open
and in operation. Many even enjoyed a surge of new private commissions.
A more uncertain situation reigned in the hotel, restaurant and retail sectors.
Our reports in these pages reflect these evolutions.

Mix
personnes.
Blends
and balances
After studying at Politecnico di Milano, this Italian
designer quickly established himself in Paris: his
agency, founded just five years ago, already has a
staff of eight. Last year his skyrocketing reputation
brought him commissions for a townhouse and
two apartments in Paris, one spanning 450 sq.m.
(4,800 sq.ft.) in a tony Left Bank neighborhood
and another across the river, in addition to a hotel
in Greece. Esthetic. All are further proof of the
appeal of his style, which never ceases to charm
new clients with its balanced emphasis on the
materials and the choice of sources, “With neither
one overpowering the other,” as he puts it. O.D.

Credentials. This Parisian esthete needs no
introduction. Fascinated by history and an expert
in 17th- and 18th-century furniture, he was
chosen to refurbish the decorative arts rooms
of the Louvre and the recently reconstituted
king’s chambers at the Château de Chambord.
And yet, his recent projects have been decidedly
contemporary, including a house in Sicily and
a veritable work of art in Doha: an extravagant,
futuristic luxury hotel that he describes as “James
Bond 2050.” Style. Often characterized as a
classicist, Jacques Garcia is in fact a visionary,
transposing the distinctive know-how developed in
his private commissions to the hospitality sector.
His references vary but his goal is always to create
spaces charged with a sense of fantasy. A.L.C.

Style.

he chose an all-white color scheme for the
highly architectural space that houses Kamel

color plays a more and more prominent role in
his serene interiors: a deep blue-green for a Left
