Liturgical Function

Alleluia for the Lady Mass Salve sancta parens on Mondays from the Feast of the Purification (2 February) to the
day before Septuagesima and during Trinity; first Alleluia at the same Lady Mass daily during Eastertide; and the
Alleluia daily during the Octave of the Nativity of the BVM (8 September), including the octave day. Sheppard
may well have written a complete cycle of Alleluias for the Lady Mass Salve sancta parens, of which this and
three companion settings in the same source are the only survivors.
