1 LCD Video Monitor Overview - NEC 1980SXi

This procedure covers the following topics:

Section 1.1 - General Monitor Information (cleaning, warm-up time, specifications,

image persistence)
Section 1.2 - Monitor Controls and Informational Messages

1.1 General Monitor Information

1.1.1 Cleaning

Avoid using any cleaning solution or glass cleaner! When cleaning, press lightly
against the LCD monitor surface to avoid damage to the screen.
Clean the LCD monitor surface with a lint-free, non-abrasive cloth and ONLY water.

1.1.2 Warm-Up Time

For optimum performance, allow 20 minutes for warm-up.

1.1.3 Environmental Considerations

1.1.3.1 Operating

Temperature: 5 - 35 C (41 - 95 F)

Humidity: 30 - 80%
Elevation: 0 - 10,000 feet

1.1.3.2 Storage

Temperature: -10 to +60 C (14 - 140 F)

Humidity: 10 - 85%
Elevation: 0 - 40,000 feet

1.1.4 Weight
9.7 kg (21.4 lbs)

1.1.5 Image Persistence

Image Persistence is when a residual or ghost image of a previous image remains visible
on the screen. Unlike CRT monitors, LCD monitors image persistence is not permanent, but
constant images being displayed for a long period of time should be avoided.
To alleviate image persistence, turn off the monitor for as long as the previous image was
displayed. For example, if an image was on the monitor for one hour and a residual image
remains, the monitor should be turned off for one hour to erase the image. NEC incorporates
the use of the OFF TIMER feature to blank the screen after a period of none use. Do adjust
the TIMER feature.
